“I don’t know what to sell.”
“Everything is so saturated.”
“Nobody wants another cup/shirt/tumbler/etc.”
I hear this ALL the time. I run the craft supply side of my business, but I also run a vendor boutique, so I get to hear this from other makers pretty regularly.
And here’s the thing… you’re kinda right. 😂 Nobody needs another generic version of the exact same thing they can get from 10 other crafters.
But that doesn’t mean people aren’t buying.
Instead of spending the next week trying to figure out what new product you need to sell, spend that week getting REALLY good at what you already make.
Let’s say you make cups. Spend a week learning Canva. Watch tutorials on creating your own cup wraps. Learn fonts, layouts, patterns and personalization. Save the videos you like. Take notes. Actually practice it. Don’t watch one hour of videos and decide you “learned Canva.” 😑😂
Then do a little research. Look through local crafting groups ..Crafted in St. Louis is a great one and pay attention to what people are ISO.
Birthday gifts? Teacher gifts? Kids’ shirts? Bridal? Retirement? School spirit? Personalized Christmas gifts?
THAT’S your research. 👀
Now take the skills you’ve been building and create something for those customers that isn’t the exact same design everybody else is offering.
School stuff is a perfect example. Create your OWN designs. For cups, maybe it’s a really pretty simple floral wrap personalized with someone’s name. Think bridesmaid gifts, retirement gifts, birthdays, Christmas gifts… there are so many directions you can go.
My point is …yes, everybody can craft. We can all buy the same machines and a lot of the same supplies.
But everybody isn’t going to spend the time developing the same skills, ideas and style that you do. 😉🫶❤️
Don’t just find another product to sell. Give people a reason to come to YOU for the product.
