I almost went to college to be a teacher. But then I changed course and got a degree in English Literature instead. After college I spent 2 years with AmeriCorps NCCC, then moved into the nonprofit sector as a working professional, and then eventually started my floral design business. Teaching floral design workshops reminds me why I thought I might like to go into education. Helping others learn, grow, and develop new skills is immensely gratifying. Arrangement I made in the quiet after all the students had left.

I have always loved fireworks and was excited to flower a Red, White, and Due baby shower this weekend. I wanted the arrangements to sparkle like my favorite kind of fireworks.

I am giving another talk at this year’s 3rd Annual Sustainable wedding Show coming up on Sunday, April 12th presented by Emerald Hour/sustainable weddings in the pnw . The topic will be: “Floristry, as Nature Intended.”⁣

Making the decision to not use floral foam in your design work will require you to learn new ways of arranging, but the effort is worth it. ⁣

Floral foam is not only bad for the environment, but toxic to the people handling it - we the florists. Full of microplastics, floral foam breaks down and gets into the water supply. When handled dry the dust that comes off it is toxic dust that can be inhaled.⁣

In my 45th year of life I have become more mindful in taking care of myself. I am appreciating my body more than I ever have and that means treating it well with wholesome foods, regular exercise, sleep, rest, and keeping it safe from toxins.⁣

As a Wedding and Event Florist using the most beautiful raw materials on earth, I have to be a good steward of Mother Nature and of myself. ❤️

Fun fact about me: I have been skydiving four times in my life. Two of those jumps I had my very own parachute. Talk about scary and exhilarating at the same time!⁣

So when a wedding requires a big ladder to decorate a big arch, I usually have no qualms being up high. I just put on my “skydiving” pants.⁣

Love the serenity of the ceremony area at Twin Willow Gardens. And I always enjoy the quiet calm of decorating the arch when I am present, focused, and in the flow.⁣

Grateful to for capturing this behind the scene image.⁣

There actually have been many sunny days this winter, which I am thankful for. But, regardless, I am looking forward to springtime with all the flowering trees, the tulips, and the the hint of warmer weather to come.⁣

Gorgeous photo by the talented of Gwen and Shaw”s springtime wedding.⁣

How lovely are these shoes? ⁣🌸

If I had realized this was an option for my own wedding, I would have chosen something like floral embroidered tennis shoes. Functional, comfy, and darn cute!!⁣

I love that the shoes match the bridal bouquet. Makes my heart happy!⁣ ❤️

New blog post today on my website! HOW TO SAFELY DECORATE A WEDDING CAKE WITH FRESH FLOWERS⁣

For this blog I partnered with the talented baker, Johanna, of

Johanna first baked for a wedding in 2015 and has been making incredible cakes, cupcakes, and sweets ever since.⁣

Decorating your wedding cake with fresh flowers can be so beautiful! As with any plant, though, knowing which flowers are safe, which are poisonous, and how to adhere them to your cake in the cleanest manner possible is utmost for any wedding florist.

These vibrant blooms pictured on Johanna”s cake are organic edible flowers from one of my favorite places

Still on a bridal bouquet kick!⁣

Loving the side profile of Elle’s bouquet. So soft, romantic, and feminine. Do you see that white dogwood in there? LOVE dogwood! I might have gotten the ladder out at home and dragged it all the way across the yard to sip a few stems from the dogwood tree in our front yard. (Don’t tell my husband.)⁣

The perfect bouquet to match Elle’s gorgeous wedding gown. I love when bouquets are full and textural. ⁣

Fun looking back at this wedding from 2023.⁣

Still on a bridal bouquet kick. I was just admiring Erin’s bridal bouquet. I don’t think I could have made it any better.⁣

Absolutely loved that I got to use some beautiful dahlias. But I also used Jewels of Opar for the first time. Such a rich color, but so delicate. Fitting for a jewel adorned bride.⁣

A wedding that was one of the most unique in my career! So colorful, flower-ful, and whimsical. Loved, LOVED!⁣

This is one of my all time favorite bouquet shots.

I love how creamy and ethereal this image is. I love how the Photographer captured the detail (looking at you explosion grass!) and the movement within the bouquet from a slightly below perspective. You don’t see that often. ⁣

This really gave emphasis to the single Icelandic Poppy that I had shooting up on one side of the bouquet, which I hoped would create a sort of delicate, playful asymmetry. And I think it worked.⁣

Grateful for Photographers (shout to to you ) who send over wedding galleries that are full of flower photos that take my breath away, but who also who help me to believe in myself and my skills as a floral artist.⁣

Loved working on this wedding at with and .⁣
