Ready to sell some mountain birds books at the Royal Gorge farmers market in Canyon City, at the Gateway Depot and Plaza from 9 AM to 1 PM. Thankfully, there are lots of large shade trees here with a forecast high today of 101°!

Also, later today, I’ll be doing a free bird program at the local local public library at 2:30 PM.

Summer is the time to get above treeline and enjoy the alpine, and some routes deliver better than others, like the trek up to Horseshoe Pass that travels entirely through tundra. The route starts at about 11,500 feet where an old mining road winds up to the pass and the drive to the “trailhead”...
