Long before Sylvester Stallone became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, Rocky Balboa represented the struggle Stallone knew firsthand. He wrote Rocky while still fighting for his own breakthrough, then famously starred as the underdog who refused to stay down.

Nearly 50 years later, Rocky remains inseparable from Stallone’s legacy and a reminder that sometimes the hardest hits aren’t what test you most. It’s what you do after people finally start applauding. 🥊🇮🇹

One of Little Italy’s most iconic traditions is turning 100, and its story is being captured on film. 🇮🇹

A feature-length documentary is in the works exploring the history of the Feast of San Gennaro and the people, families, faith, traditions and memories that have shaped the celebration for a century.

Narrated by acclaimed actor Armand Assante, the documentary was created by executive producer Joe Barone and grew from a conversation two years ago between Barone and his lifelong family friend Anthony Palmiotto about the approaching 100th anniversary of the feast.

What started with a simple idea to tell the story of how it all began eventually grew into a larger project. Barone and fellow executive producer Calogero Drago of CIAO USA Productions tapped Paul Borghese to direct, with Eugene Donofrio, Vito DePalo and Mario Capparelli also joining the vision.

Now, as the Feast of San Gennaro celebrates its centennial, the filmmakers will be in Little Italy from September 17–27 capturing the historic celebration as part of the documentary.

Visitors can also meet members of the filmmaking team at the CIAO USA booth at Mulberry and Grand, learn more about the film and potentially become part of the story.

Italian-American chef and television personality Giada De Laurentiis is stepping into the ballroom tonight for her Dancing With the Stars debut.

De Laurentiis is competing on Season 35 alongside professional dancer Alan Bersten as “Team Aldente.” The debut comes despite a setback in rehearsals, where Giada broke her toe just one week before the competition began.

The longtime Food Network star has said she joined the show after her daughter, Jade, started college, inspiring her to take on something new of her own. Giada has also been open about entering the competition with no previous dance experience.

Giada and Bersten are set to make their first competitive appearance tonight during the second night of the two-night Dancing With the Stars premiere. 🇮🇹💃

A landslide near Sant’Elpidio a Mare in Italy’s Marche region has exposed a burial linked to the ancient Picene culture and preliminarily dated to the sixth century B.C.

The discovery began after heavy rains revealed a ceramic vessel on a hillside. Archaeological officials inspected the site and recovered several additional ceramic vessels from the burial. The artifacts will now undergo restoration and further study, while researchers say additional investigation could reveal more burials in the area. 🇮🇹

The Picenes were a pre-Roman Italic people who lived along Italy’s Adriatic side before Roman expansion into the region.

For Sopranos fans, New Jersey is the place to be this weekend. 🇮🇹

More than 18 cast members from The Sopranos are set to reunite at Paisan Con, happening September 18, 19 and 20 at the APA Hotel Woodbridge in Iselin, New Jersey.

The three-day event will bring fans together with familiar faces from the legendary series, plus more than 30 additional guests and reunions featuring cast members from Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale and Green Book.
