Veillette Guitars is a three-person shop, building 5 to 6 instruments a month in Woodstock, NY. A flexible approach fosters creativity, inventiveness, and curiosity. The pursuit of new ideas — both our own and our clients' — produces an uncommonly wide range of innovative instruments. We've been very fortunate to attract a broad spectrum of players

Hot off the bench is a very nice acoustic bass for one of our customers.

A 35" scale 5 string mahogany body and neck with ebony fingerboard and bridge with a nice redburst finish. The black tuners really complete the look.

Gryphon High D to D tuned 12 string acoustic:

Aero Electric Semi-Hollow 6 string:

Our most popular Acoustic model, the Gryphon has inspired and intrigued players all over the world, and been seen and heard on some of the biggest stages and best studios in the industry. Celestial, sparkling highs and punchy mid-register give the Gryphon unique cut and punch and an unusually wide range of applications. Guitarists will love being able to play mandolin-style parts in a new high register, and even mandolin players will discover new horizons, including the ability to play guitar-like or fingerstyle patterns in a mandolin tonality and range.

The Gryphon is designed for D tuning (equivalent to the 10th fret of a standard guitar). This unique range is make possible by its short scale length (18.1") and custom strings (gauges .009" to .042").

The unison courses of the Gryphon 12 produce a rich natural chorus and depth that brings to mind mandolins, bouzoukis, cuatros, and other traditional folk instruments — along with a powerful rhythm "chop".

This Gryphon has highly figured maple back and sides, finished in a beautiful Vintage Tint with black ebony fingerboard and bridge, black binding, black headstock overlay, and black tuner buttons. An elegant and classy look.

Another fantastic Baritone 12 String acoustic. Rich, articulate tone that is great for solo performers or for sitting in a mix. Our True Twelve design, with compensated zero fret, the 26.1” scale, and carefully matched string gauges make for a comfortable playing experience and precise intonation.

We were the first to offer a production 12 string baritone, and after almost 30 years of building and refining them we have had a lot of satisfied customers from regular players to well known names like Dave Matthews, Steve Miller, Colin Hay, Eddie Van Halen, and Slash.

Here’s Kinloch Nelson at the Artisan Guitar Show last weekend, playing a new Veillette Standard-tuned Parlor 6-string. - YES! We make them too!
Kinloch really made the guitar sing and swing and we got great response to our basic 6-string. As you know, we do mostly different sorts of instruments in terms of tonal ranges and string configurations.
It was a wonderful show in Harrisburg PA, shaking hands, bonding with our fellow luthiers. That’s our dear friend Dick Boak at the next table. We would have missed the show completely if it wasn’t for the great Kimberly Kay reminding her forgetful husband about it. Thank goodness!

Todd Rundgren Dec 2012 - Veillette 12-string electric at a Central Park NYC gig. This was taken the same month that Joe made two balsa wood Stratocasters for Todd to be blown up (exploded!) in a British video about him. That was a fun build!
