We are hard at work on the console for First Church Miami. This console has been a daily joy to build — and an exercise in creativity, not just in design, but in process (more on that in the captions). We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we’ve enjoyed the work, and watch for more to come!

The Greenleaf Organ Company is pleased to announce the awarding of a contract for a new pipe organ at Old St. Mary Catholic Church in Milwaukee. One of the oldest parishes in the city, Old St. Mary was established in 1846, the same year the city of Milwaukee was founded. The new organ will replace an existing instrument which retains but a few ranks of pipes from the 1893 Schuelke organ, and will include restoration of the 1893 organ case, constructed by the firm of Erhard Brielmaier. Scott R. Riedel & Associates is the church's consultant. With mechanical key action and electric stop action, and while not a historic replica, the instrument will nonetheless lean strongly into the late 19th century tonal work of the Milwaukee German immigrant organbuilder, William Schuelke.

We are fortunate to be frequently commissioned to produce reed shallots for our colleagues in organ building - this time, we're making a set for our Opus 2, headed soon for First Church Miami. Here is a (nearly) step-by-step overview of our process in making a custom set of tapered shallots: enjoy!

This stop began its life as the Positiv 4' Principal from Moller Op. 11364 (1979). Here, it has been rescaled and judiciously revoiced to become the Swell 4' Octave in a new organ for First Church Miami - breathing new life into much of the pipework from the church's original instrument. Please enjoy this brief demonstration by Daniel Hancock, and stay tuned for more updates!

Enjoy this short video documenting our use of a vacuum press to clamp large slider wind chest grids, pallet skins, and tables during glue-up! This wind chest measures approximately 95" x 46", and it remains under vacuum pressure for at least twelve hours.

Below: windchest construction photographs from our Opus 2, heading soon for First United Methodist Church in Miami, Florida. Two slider windchests and sixteen electro-pneumatic ‘unit’ windchests were constructed for this instrument, which is now being erected in our workshop.
