Sign of the Hawk Sign of the Hawk produces hand-crafted leatherwork the old-fashioned way. Belts, pouches, purses, wallets, and re-enactment gear are my primary products.

My goal is to produce beautiful things that make people happy. To that end, I use only high-quality materials, and I personally hand-craft each item. Because leather is a natural material, no two pieces are ever identical. My primary types of work are:
-- modern items such as belts, purses, wallets, cellphone and computer cases. I also make knife & tool sheaths by custom order.
-- SCA, Renfaire,

and re-enactment gear such as ring belts, belt pouches, baldrics, quivers, archery guards, cup and horn frogs, and similar small items. I primarily sell my work at festivals and craft shows in Oregon, Washington, and California. Some items are available year round at Turtle Island Candle Shop, 153 B Highway 101 North, Yachats, Oregon -- the orange storefront between the Ice Cream shop and Luna Sea restaurant. I cherish the old fashioned ideal of having pride in one's work and making items both beautiful and functional. "Old ways for modern times".

Samhain Greetings!

I give my heart-felt thanks to all of you who have supported my business these many years. I must inform you -- appropriately enough for this season of death and rebirth -- that I have chosen, with both joy and profound sorrow, to close this chapter of my life and move on to another adventure. Sign of the Hawk Leathercraft is officially retiring after 28 years in business.

I am in process of entering fully into my scenic photography business, which I have been running as a sideline for the last several years. It will have its own name and page, separate from this one, but I will post the name here once things are underway so that you can enjoy another aspect of my artistic works.

I will treasure all the memories of all the wonderful events I did with Sign of the Hawk, the lovely and interesting people I have come to know, and the joy of being able to make a living from my leathercraft art. All of you made that possible for me. Blessings be upon you all.

Happy December to all! Today, Sunday Dec 1st, we will be set up at the Recreation Center in Lincoln City from 10am-3pm. This is on NE 21st St, behind Barnacle Bill's off of hwy 101. Every Sunday through the winter market season, there will be an artisans' market here. Come see us!

Greetings all, it is outdoor market season again! Newport Farmers Market opens outdoors on Saturdays 9am-1pm, next to City Hall on hwy 101 in Newport.
Yachats Market is also opening for the summer on Sundays 9am-2pm on 4th St, next to Yachats Commons.
On alternate Sundays I will be at Lincoln City Market 9am-3pm, at Lincoln City Cultural Center at D Lake Rd and hwy 101. (I'll try to keep the page updated to show which Sunday market I'm attending each week).

Sign of the Hawk leathercraft will be in Lincoln City this weekend at the Mystical Tourist metaphysical store. As well as our regular products, we are having a giant yard sale on the front lawn -- tools, kayak and surf equipment, clothing, a motorhome tiny-house, handmade soaps, jewelry -- too much to list! April 20-21st, from 9am until we are tired. Located at the corner of NW 13th St and highway 101, next to the Birkenstock store. Hope to see you there!

I am sad to announce that Sign of the Hawk will no longer be part of the Itinerant Artists Marketplace in Lincoln City. However, there is a re-vamped Etsy site coming online soon where you will be able to order stock items direct and see pictures of custom items currently for sale. Stay tuned for further developments!
