📢 IMPORTANT DONATION UPDATE
I hoped it wouldn't come to this, but effective immediately, Legacy Thrift is no longer accepting walk-in donations. When we are able to begin accepting donations again, all donations will be by appointment only.
We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community. Donations have helped us over the past year, and we truly appreciate everyone who has thought of us. Unfortunately, we've reached a point where repeated unauthorized drop-offs have made it necessary to change our policy.
Please remember that leaving donations outside our store without prior approval is considered illegal dumping and is punishable by law. It also violates the terms of our lease with our property manager.
Many people assume that anything left outside will be useful to us, but that's not always the case. Right now, our back room is already full of inventory that we have purchased for the store, and we have even more purchased inventory arriving. Unauthorized donations also take up the limited space we've set aside for our vendors. We regularly have vendors traveling from out of town with truckloads of merchandise, and when our receiving area is filled with unexpected donations, we're forced to reschedule their deliveries. That creates unnecessary inconvenience for our vendors and disrupts the way we operate our business.
In addition, when donations are left without notice, we often don't have room to store them. In many cases, we're forced to make unscheduled and expensive trips to the dump or pay for additional storage space just to accommodate items we were never prepared to receive.
We simply cannot continue absorbing those costs or dealing with the problems unauthorized drop-offs create.
We kindly ask that you do not leave any donations at the store, whether we are open or closed, unless you have scheduled an appointment with us.
We'll announce on our page when we are ready to begin accepting donations again and how to schedule an appointment.
Thank you for your understanding, your support, and for helping us keep Legacy Thrift running smoothly for our customers, our vendors, and our community.
