Heyyy, folks! 📢 Here's your weekly reminder to WATER🌧️ & FEED🌼 your containers & hanging baskets!

I want to shout out Kuirk's Bistro for fueling Mike & I's home gardening tonight! I was once a regular of Da-Kao in Sioux City (if you haven't been there, cannot recommend enough) - so I was super excited to see spring rolls on the menu! Mike finished the Banh Mi before I could even take my picture. 😋

If you're currently visiting Yankton, check Kuirk's out, they have rotating niche foods on their "Surprise Leads" menu that aren't typically offered in our small town, and it's the best place to take your foodie friend. Best focaccia they've ever had.

Tonight, I brought in the big guns with Jack's All Purpose 20-20-20. By the way - the numbers refer to the nutrient content - Nitrogen (N - edit: not a thumbs down, haha!), Phosphate (P), Potassium (K). N-P-K 👀

When life gives you roses... Unleash your garden creativity! 🌹

Yes, yes, we have roses, and yes - I'm becoming just a *little* obsessed with Distant Drums, sure. But let's focus on the filler.

JUNE is an excellent time to dig into those larger landscaping projects, and I urge you not to overlook these two shrubs:

No. 1 - Mockorange
No. 2 - Kintzley's Ghost 👻, a honeysuckle!

Mockorange is a beautiful and fragrant woody shrub for full sun. It flowers in spring and early summer with 2" white cupped blooms. Once established, this shrub can grow up to 5-6' and 4-5' wide, a treat worth the patience! BONUS - It makes an excellent cut flower! These are a steal right now at $29.99.

If you're looking for a unique climber and you love the look of pale, mint green eucalyptus, look no further than Kintzley's Ghost. The unique bracts of this honeysuckle give you a cool blue-white tone that goes with anything, making it versatile in the landscape. BONUS - it's also native to North America!

👀 Okay, folks - here is your reminder to 👏feed 👏your 👏containers! This is the run up to summer - don't be afraid to give them a boost! 🥀🌹🪷🌸🌼🌻🌞🌧️

This is especially important for those with hanging baskets or containers! Use a liquid fertilizer to give it a boost (yes, even after the rain as long as it has good drainage - aka, a hole in the bottom of your pot). I'm using Jack's Petunia FeED (& for my "Pop Star" - Jack's Hydrangea Blue! Psst. there are two left!)

Remember to follow your directions! For Petunia FeED I'm mixing 1 tblsp into my 1 gal container and staying on a weekly schedule!

Also shout-out to local small biz Ben's Brew Station for their Bananna & Pecan to-go, fueling all of our gardening dreams 😌

🥵 🌞 Heat's a bit intense this week considering we were in a freeze warning just last week, eh? BUT - wow! The heat has finally started popping off summer blooms! Including more of our roses! 🌹

"Easy on the Eyes" looks unassuming on our lot - but she's a winner shrub rose - and she's "own root" - meaning you can rest assured she'll always return true to form. The second pic is from our home rose garden JUST this morning...

Look at her in all her pastel glory!
