The next three days July 3rd, 4th,and 5th are fee-free days for US residents at all National Park Service sites in honor of our nation's 250th birthday.

The most important points for pass sellers are:
All residents get free entrance, even when part of a commercial tour.
Nonresidents without an annual pass will pay the entrance fee and applicable nonresident fees.
If a vehicle (private or commercial) contains residents and nonresidents, the entrance fee is waived. However, the nonresidents need to pay the applicable nonresident fee if there are no valid annual/lifetime passes present.
Camping and Cadillac reservation fees are still in effect.

All of the park's automated fee machines will display a Fee Free message. Park-specific pass sales and commercial entrance sales will be unavailable on recreation.gov.

New Opportunities for Exhibitors and Motorcycle Enthusiasts Highlight Summer and Fall Events
OWLS HEAD, MAINE β€” The Owls Head Transportation Museum is preparing to launch its 2026 event
season with First Responders Weekend, taking place June 27–28, followed by a summer and fall lineup
filled with opportunities for exhibitors, enthusiasts, and families to celebrate transportation history.
Throughout the summer, the museum comes
alive as antique automobiles, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, and specialty vehicles join OHTM& #39;s
operational collection of pre-1940 aircraft, ground vehicles, and engines for a series of unique
transportation-themed events.
New this summer, OHTM is introducing a Model T Driving Experience, giving participants the rare
opportunity to get behind the wheel of one of America& #39;s most influential automobiles. Participants will
learn the unique controls and operation of the iconic Model T while gaining a deeper understanding of the
engineering innovations that helped transform personal transportation in the early 20th century.
For 2026, the museum continues to welcome exhibitor vehicles that are 35 years old or older, with free
admission provided for the driver and one passenger. These participant vehicles help transform the
museum grounds into a dynamic display of transportation history while giving visitors the opportunity to
experience vehicles rarely seen outside private collections.
This season also brings expanded opportunities for motorcycle enthusiasts. In previous years, motorcycles
were primarily featured during a single event weekend. Beginning this year, riders will have a dedicated
exhibition space during both the Wings & Wheels Air Show on August 1–2 and the Season Rally
Finale on September 26–27. These expanded opportunities allow motorcycle owners to showcase their
bikes alongside other historic and specialty vehicles while connecting with fellow enthusiasts.
The season officially begins with the museum& #39;s inaugural First Responders Weekend on June 27–28, a
two-day event honoring the men and women who serve their communities through fire, police, EMS,
dispatch, and emergency management services. Visitors can explore emergency vehicles, meet first
responders, enjoy demonstrations, and learn more about the organizations that help keep Maine
communities safe.
Additional events throughout the season include the Truck & Tractor Show, Wings & Wheels Air Show,
New England Auto Auctionβ„’, Pine Tree Jamboree, and the Season Rally Finale.

Visitors can also explore the Museum& #39;s growing Science & Industry Center, a hub for hands-on learning
and discovery that connects transportation history with modern STEM concepts. Open year-round, the
center features interactive exhibits, hands-on demonstrations, weekly STEM activities, camps,
workshops, after-school programs, and outreach opportunities designed to engage learners of all ages.
Whether arriving as an exhibitor, participant, or spectator, visitors will find opportunities throughout the
season to connect with fellow enthusiasts, experience living history, and celebrate the innovation and
ingenuity that have shaped transportation for generations.

Tourism in Action
The BMW Club of Maine welcomed members of the White Mountain Chapter from New Hampshire for a scenic drive through southern Maine, with 25 enthusiasts and 15 vehicles enjoying some of the best our state has to offer.

Our Pine Tree Chapter route included Old Orchard Beach, Cape Porpoise, and the Maine Classic Car Museum, while also highlighting attractions such as the Seashore Trolley Museum and several other destinations that make this region so special.

Beyond sharing a passion for great automobiles, these events encourage visitors to explore Maine, discover new places, dine locally, visit attractions, and often return for future trips with family and friends.

The highlight for me was hearing several of our New Hampshire guests say, "We'll be back." Those four words remind us that introducing people to authentic Maine experiences today often inspires future visits tomorrow.
