On Thursday, Roi Qualls, in person, and H.E. Wallace, via video, shared excerpts and ideas from their recently published novel, “Points of Failure, Vol. I, Interwoven.” A lively Q$A followed. All agreed the next step is a book club to go deeper into the themes of the book: conflict within the US, climate extremes, the haves and have nots, what would you do to keep your family together, when it might mean letting go of your principles?

Emma Loomis-Amrhein following her poetry reading, with a bouquet of flowers from Butter Flower Farm. The poet chatted with attendees and signed copies of her publication, “Evening Primroses.” At the reading, she presented new work, including new poems and an essay, weaving themes of the fragility of nature with the vulnerability of human connection, which generated a lively discussion with the audience.

The Poem River Series continued with a stirring evening of original poetry spoken by the authors during an Open Mic event. Al Miller, who conceived the idea for the series and acted as host, holds the growing poem River, signed by participants in the two poetry events to date.
