DONATE TO THE VIOLET HENSLEY MUSIC FUND
UPDATE: $5,300 HAS BEEN DONATED OF OUR $7,000 GOAL!
Lucky Star Handmade is proud to announce the creation of the Violet Hensley Music Fund, honoring the remarkable life and legacy of one of our region’s true treasures.
Violet Hensley—the beloved “Whittling Fiddler”—spent more than a century rooted in the Ozarks and a lifetime keeping its musical traditions alive. She played the fiddle, made more than 70 fiddles by hand, told stories, taught, performed, and generously shared the music and culture she loved. Violet passed away in August at the extraordinary age of 109, leaving behind a legacy that deserves to keep singing.
And that’s exactly what we hope to do. The Violet Hensley Music Fund will help Lucky Star Handmade bring traditional folk, fiddle, bluegrass, and roots music to our community through live performances and allow opportunities to pass these traditions on to a new generation. Simply put, we want to keep the music playing.
Our first fundraising campaign for the Violet Hensley Music Fund has already begun and will run through Turkey Trot, October 10th.
You can give any amount—every donation matters. Send this to your family and friends! And we’re going to have a little fun along the way! Anyone who donates $70 or more during the campaign will have their name entered for a chance to receive one of many wonderful handmade pieces donated by artists from Lucky Star Handmade.

Violet gave us more than music. She showed us what it means to preserve a tradition by living it, sharing it, and passing it along.
