We recently had a crazy storm out here in the pnw that knocked trees down and turned the forest into a whole playground of little treasures so obviously I had to go see what was left behind.

I brought my cranky 11-year-old along for an adventure she absolutely did not ask for when she brought up a "sick" day. We got to climb over some immense fallen trees and gathered all kinds of neat forest bits like ingredients for some questionable woodland spell.

Ok I gathered and left with handfuls of leaves while some truly impressive eye rolling happened near by

Anyway, the forest had art supplies, my child had complaints, and I regret nothing.

A look inside the creative process!

Okay honestly I really just wanted to go look at cool trees, but it sounds good right? Like I actually had some sort of plan going on (I never have a plan)

Anyway I went to yoga decided I wanted to go look at some water and ended up at Tumwater Falls and guess what! They have the coolest trees! I touched leaves and collected little gifts from those cool trees. I ended up sitting down and sketching some things out. Called my dad and showed him the cool tree (he was not nearly excited enough), and found a little feather on my way back to the car.

If I’ve learned anything over the last year it’s this

Just. Go.

Go places. Look at things. Pick up the weird little treasures you find. Get inspired. Make something. Or don’t. Im not your mom. Just like, your weird Auntie.

Sometimes “I want to go look at cool trees” is the creative process.

Saw some goodies and had to pull over to grab some 🩶

The oldest child wasn't super thrilled something about me being "super cringe" or something 😅

Idk I think it's pretty cringe that she doesn't want to be spontaneous and silly and wander and go look at neat trees. Oh well she'll get there one day

When the silly little horror show accidentally gives you the best background song 🩶

Also how wonderful is the sound of the silica pouring into the container. Love it!

AND I found these beautiful little Sweet Peas in a random overgrown field outside my Dr office. My mom loved these, especially in this pink and white, it was like she was letting me know it was all going to be ok 🩶 She's been gone almost 18 years now and I still get these little reminders every where I go. The universe is just so full of magic 🌷

You’re right!

I have taken a break. 🩶

I have SO MANY new ideas though. The leaves are changing, the mornings are getting chilly, and I’m headed for my happy time.

I am so inspired by the seasons changing, especially here in the PNW. It’s just absolutely magical.

Well anyway, here is my old-ass Gremlin, Gizmo.

He’s a weird guy and has never really learned how to be a cat. He just does his own horrible things. But he is my son, and I love him to death, no matter how annoying or disgusting he gets.

He also looks perpetually annoyed that he’s alive, drools everywhere, and just recently, at 14 years old, discovered that he can, in fact, sit on my lap.
But only if there is a blankie...

Anyway… thanks for putting up with my ramblings.

Keep watching for some exciting news and some new crazy stuff!
(I just collected a whole basket of acorns, so… probably something involving those. )

Sorry I've been a little quiet lately. The end of the school year has kept us running in every direction.
Field days and dance recitals and the ever looming threat of my oldest needing braces 😅

Sooooo here is a little peek at my workstation as I get ready to start painting in my new favorite way. A little planning, a lot of flowers, and a bit of trust the process
