We made a jailbreak! 🙌 Daddy is HOME! 🩷

After a much longer stay in Houston than we ever expected, we finally got Daddy home and are getting Mom & Daddy settled into their new routine.

It will still be some time before Daddy is ready to have visitors while he rests, heals and gets stronger, but phone calls are always welcome and would be a great way to check in and say hello. 🩷

And while I’m here with them, Wildflour work is still happening behind the scenes!

Yesterday was all about fall and holiday menu planning. Today I’m switching gears and working on labels, packaging and all those little details that have to come together before the baking ever begins.

And we have a BUSY couple of weeks coming up! Mark your calendars:

🩷 Canopy On The Comal — New Braunfels
Thursday, August 27 | 8 AM–3 PM

🎄 Home For The Holidays — New Braunfels
Friday, September 4 | 9 AM–5 PM
Saturday, September 5 | 9 AM–5 PM
Sunday, September 6 | 11 AM–4 PM

🍺 Cactus Land Brewing Co.
Sunday, September 6 | 12–5 PM

Yes… you read that last part correctly. September 6 is going to require a little Wildflour divide-and-conquer! 😂

There may not be flour flying around the kitchen today, but there is PLENTY happening behind the scenes as we get ready for fall and the start of our holiday market season.

New Braunfels, we’ll see you next week! 🩷

(And for those wondering — both the photo and this update have Daddy’s stamp of approval. ❤️)

Apparently fall and Christmas menu planning doesn’t stop just because my “office” has temporarily moved to a hospital room. 🍂🎄

During the quieter stretches here with Daddy, I’ve been going back through old family recipes, handwritten notes, past Wildflour menus and photos of things I’ve baked over the years—deciding what needs to make a comeback and what might get a little Wildflour twist this year.

Sticky Fig. Pecan Praline. Cranberry Orange. Warm spices. Texas pecans. North Pole Hot Cocoa. Some old favorites…and maybe a few new things I’ve been dreaming up. 👀

There’s something special about pulling out an old recipe and remembering who made it, where it came from and all the memories tied to it. That’s really the heart behind Wildflour—taking those family recipes and traditions and carrying them forward, one bake at a time.

So yes, it’s still August in South Texas, I’m sitting in a Houston hospital, and apparently my brain has already moved on to fall, Thanksgiving and Christmas baking. 😂

Now help me plan…

What Wildflour favorite do you want to see come back this fall or Christmas? And is there an old-fashioned holiday flavor you think I need to turn into a scone?

For those of you planning to see Wildflour at The Peddler Show in Robstown this Friday through Sunday, I’m so sorry to say that we will not be there this weekend.

Dad is still in the hospital in Houston following his heart surgery. Recovery takes time, and right now my place is here with him and Mom.

I especially wanted to let you know because I know some of you were planning to come find us this weekend, and I never want anyone making the trip expecting Wildflour to be there.

Thank you for all of the messages, encouragement and support you’ve shown our family and this little bakery over the past week. It has meant more than I can say. ❤️

We’ll be back baking soon, and I’ll share where you can find us next when we get a little closer.

A little Tuesday morning update from Houston ❤️

We’re a few days into Daddy’s recovery from quadruple bypass surgery, and he is learning that recovery definitely comes with some ebb and flow. Overall, though, he continues to make progress, and we’re incredibly thankful.

Right now it’s one day at a time — lots of rest, walking, breathing exercises and letting his body heal from a very big surgery.

I shared a little more in the video this morning, including what the next few days look like for us and a little Wildflour update. Yes, I’ll still be at Canopy On The Comal next Thursday! 🩷

Sometimes life and small business overlap in ways you never quite plan for. This week is definitely one of those weeks but I am thankful to be here and for the grace my little business has been given.

Thank you for continuing to check on Daddy and our family. We appreciate every message, prayer and bit of encouragement more than you know. ❤️

✨ New place. Special menu. And we’re bringing some of our very favorite Wildflour flavors with us.

Next Thursday, Wildflour Scones & Bakery will be at Canopy On The Comal in New Braunfels, and I put together a small-batch menu especially for the occasion.

We’ll have our Sticky Fig and Texas Blackberry Cobbler scones alongside two brand-new savory flavors — Texas Sun-Dried Tomato & Herb Goat Cheese and Roasted Garden Poblano & Sharp Cheddar, made with poblanos straight from our own garden. 🌶️

And because I couldn’t show up without a little piece of our family recipe box, we’re bringing Nana’s Classic Cinnamon Rolls and Mamie’s Pecan Praline Bread Pudding, too. 💕

Everything will be baked from scratch, packaged up and ready for Thursday morning.

New Braunfels… The Scone Lady is coming to the Comal! 💗

I’m so excited to be the featured baker at Canopy on the Comal on Thursday, August 27!

And since Canopy on the Comal already let the cat out of the bag… 😉 yes, Mamie’s Pecan Praline Bread Pudding is coming with me.

But that’s not all.

I’m putting together a very special, small-batch Wildflour menu for the day with Nana’s cinnamon rolls, sweet & savory scones and a few flavors made with some beautiful Texas ingredients I brought home from the NB Farmers Market specifically for this event.

I have a feeling you’re going to want to come hungry. 💗

This photo may not be from today, but this is the Daddy we’re seeing more and more of every day. ❤️

Dad is still in the CICU and still hooked up to more wires and monitors than I can count, but he is doing so well — and he has everyone in stitches. His sense of humor is apparently one thing bypass surgery couldn’t touch. 😂

There are still things his doctors are watching closely and plenty of healing ahead, but seeing more and more of him coming back has been such a gift.

So we’re still here in Houston, spending our Sunday with him.

And somewhere between visits, I’ll be working on a little Wildflour business too. 🌸 I’m putting together Thursday’s menu for Canopy on the Comal , and I’m looking forward to getting back into the kitchen.

Family first right now. The flour can wait just a little longer. 💗

A much sweeter Friday morning. 🤍

We’re grabbing a quick breakfast this morning before heading back to see Daddy.

Last night, before we went back to the hotel and finally crawled into bed, we got to see him off sedation, awake and cognizant of everything going on around him. After the day we had yesterday, getting to talk to him and see him looking back at us was pretty wonderful. We are so thankful🤍

Today will be a day of visiting with Daddy, sprinkled with a little business class for me. Because even from a hospital waiting room, this little bakery of mine still needs some attention. 😂

For now, though—breakfast, coffee, and then back upstairs to see Daddy.

One day at a time. 🤍

Dad is out of surgery and came through his bypass well. ❤️

We are incredibly thankful and relieved. Thank you to everyone who kept Dad, our family, and his entire surgical team in your thoughts and prayers today. We felt every one of them.

There is still a road of recovery ahead, but today we are simply grateful.

And Dad… we’ve got a whole lot more fishing to do. ❤️🎣

More fishing days ahead.

Some days, all you can do is wait, pray, and trust. ❤️

Dad is in surgery this morning, and we’re here waiting for the words we want to hear—that everything went well.

If you know my dad, you know he’d much rather be on the water with a fishing pole in his hand than anywhere near a hospital. And I’d give just about anything to be sitting beside him in that boat right now.

So today, I’m holding tight to the memories we’ve made, the fishing trips still ahead of us, and my faith that he is in very capable hands.

Come on, Daddy. We’ve got more fish to catch. 🎣❤️
