Lash retention refers to how long your lash extensions last

Good retention means your lashes held on well… You were able to go 2+ weeks with at least 40% of your lashes remaining.

Here are my top tips to maximize your retention:

DO:
âś… Clean your lashes 5-7x a week using a lash shampoo recommended by your lash artist
âś… Be mindful how you sleep. If you wake up with lashes on your pillow or notice the most shedding in the morning, purchase a lash extensions safe sleeping mask
âś… Be gentle with your lashes
âś… Wear a headband/sweatband if you workout
âś… Clean your lashes more frequently if you sweat a lot / have oily skin

DON’T:
❌ Sleep on your face / have your lashes rub against your pillow
❌ Expose lashes to excessive heat or steam (saunas, hot showers, steam rooms)
❌Put your face directly under high pressure shower heads
❌ Use skincare products that leave your face oily
❌ Pick at your lashes, pull on them, or rub your eyes excessively

BOOKING FILL INS:
Some clients can go 2 weeks, others 3 or even 4 weeks in between fills. Your fill schedule should match your retention rate, how quickly your hair grows, and lifestyle. Ask your lash artist for their recommendation if you’re unsure!

Wispy Classic Set 💎 Let’s talk about what “wispy” really means…

A wispy look is created by adding longer lengths throughout the set to give it more dimension. Some people refer to it as a strip lash look (moreso for hybrid/volume sets).

Wispy is an “Add On” option on my booking site and not a “Set”

Set = Classic, Hybrid, or Volume
Add On = Wispy, Pop of Color, etc
Style = Cat Eye, Doll Eye, Open Eye, etc

I typically use wispy spikes that are 2-3mm longer than the base length of the lashes. “Spikes” are the longer lashes added in to create that wispy effect.

For this set I went with +2mm longer spikes as my client requested a very natural look. If you zoom in you’ll see what I mean by the longer pieces throughout.

In some of my other work you’ll notice the spikes stand out a bit more and that’s because I used spikes +3mm longer. It’s all customizable based on my client’s preferences and the look we’re going for.

Lash artist math:
If I’m using lengths 10-14mm for the base lengths (like in this picture), then my spikes will be 12-16mm (for +2mm spikes) or 13-17mm (for +3mm spikes).

Have you ever wondered how many lash extensions get applied during a full sets appointment? A client recently asked me so I thought i’d break it down for everyone💡

The average person has 90-150 natural lashes PER EYE on the upper lash line. So usually at least 200 lash extensions are being applied.

My goal is to cover 100% of healthy natural lashes that can support an extension. For clients with super full lashes, I may only do 90-95%. It really all comes down to natural lash count, set type, desired results, and timing.

For fill ins… if you have less than 40% of your lashes remaining or waited too long between fills (meaning most lashes are outgrown and need to be removed), that’s a different scenario. In that case, I work with what I can to get as much coverage as possible.
