HAPPY RELEASE DAY TO THE QUEEN OF LOMBARD STREET! 📚💚

I've been reading Lisa Kleypas since my grandma took me to one of her book signings, where I picked up my very first historical romance, Secrets of a Summer Night. I've devoured her books ever since!

Queen of Lombard Street is more than a beautiful historical romance. It's a love letter to women in finance, financial independence, and the women who fought to create opportunities that so many of us take for granted today.

Reina is one of my favorite heroines Lisa has written. She's brilliant, innovative, compassionate, and determined to change the world around her. Add in a wonderful romance, an unforgettable found family, and some truly beautiful character development, and I was completely sold.

This feels like a new chapter for Lisa Kleypas, and I am HERE for it.

The Fox & The Fable is headed to Shop the Block: Harvest Market & More at Block 59 in Naperville, and we can’t wait!

We’ll be joining 35+ local makers, artists, boutiques, and small businesses for an afternoon of autumn goodness, complete with live music, seasonal treats, and plenty of shopping.

LOOK AT OUR LITTLE FOX!!! 🦊

I am absolutely in LOVE with this illustration of The Fox & The Fable by the incredibly talented Kevin Cannon!

We recently became members of the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association (MIBA), and one of the sweetest perks of membership is receiving a custom illustration of your bookstore!

And somehow, Kevin managed to capture our little bookstore on wheels perfectly. The fox reading his book?! The trailer?! I can't. 😭❤️

Even more exciting? The Fox & The Fable will be featured on MIBA's 2027 Indie Bookstore Roadmap! 🗺️📚 We're a tiny bookstore on wheels, but we're in some pretty wonderful company.

A huge thank you to and for this beautiful artwork. I'll be finding approximately 47456819 different ways to use it!

Can we talk about Blind Dates with Books for a second?

A friend was recently gifted a Blind Date with a Book from another vendor, and while the packaging was cute and it came stuffed with all sorts of little extras, she told she was pretty disappointed when she actually opened it.

The extras felt cheap, and the book itself was an older, heavily worn used copy in pretty rough condition.

And it got me thinking about why I do things a little differently at The Fox & The Fable.

📖 The book IS the gift. I don't fill my Blind Dates with a lot of extras. I'd rather put the focus (and value!) on a good book.

📚 Preloved or brand new? You'll know before you buy. Every Blind Date is clearly labeled.

🤎 Condition matters. I love preloved books, but I only select copies in great condition. Used doesn't have to mean beat-up!

💌 Transparent pricing: $15 for preloved and $22 for brand-new books.

I want you to feel excited about the mystery, not disappointed when you unwrap it.

Because at the end of the day, the surprise should be the story, not the quality of the book🦊📚

One year ago, this was the bookstore 📚

An empty maroon trailer, a very big idea, and me standing inside giving two thumbs up with absolutely no idea how much work we were about to do 🫠

A year ago, I had officially decided to dive headfirst into this crazy little mobile bookstore dream, and our beautiful maroon trailer was delivered. From there came months of planning, building, painting, wallpapering, installing shelves, collecting books, figuring things out as we went, and wondering more than once what exactly I had gotten myself into lol

It was a long road from that completely empty box to our very first event in March.

And now?

She has shelves. She has wallpaper. She has hundreds of books. She has traveled to markets, festivals, wineries, breweries, private events and communities all over the area. Thousands of people have stepped through those doors.

Somehow that empty trailer became The Fox & The Fable 🦊📚

I’m pretty fond of the glow-up 😊
