It’s like the Dockside tiles *actually* jumped into the lake! Code LATEJULY15 is live through Friday night at midnight!

Our Painted Water mat is inspired by a shop on the way up to the lake. It’s owned by a husband-wife team. He’s a potter. She makes gifts using a technique called paper marbling or suminigashi.

There truly wouldn’t be a Middle & Main without her.

I’m still not sure how we went from her telling me about a game I’d never even heard of to building this incredible community together, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Thinking about the story of Middle & Main as well as the stories behind each of our tiles today.

Every single tile in each of our sets has a story.

We both love tradition, old things, nature, family. We’re both nostalgic. {We’re both terrible at the phrase “Long story short”. We’re more “Short story long” girls.}

We’d love to tell you every single detail about every single tile & every single step along the way…but as they say, long story short, the above tiles are the ones WE made, the ones I painted on paper, the ones Glenn laser cut & tumbled.

We love them. We love this surprising journey of & surrounding mahjong, & we remain so incredibly grateful.

Do y’all play with shufflers? Once you start, it’s hard to imagine playing without them.

They’re sturdy, satisfying, beautiful, & functional. We use them for clean up, too, & prefer mixing & matching designs.

{Barrier Island has been returning in waves, & Monstera Mat will be here soon, we promise!}

Symbols of a South Carolina summertime. Nothin’ finer! 🩵

South Carolina natives are called sandlappers, though I can’t remember why exactly. I think it referenced an early poem. As school children, we were taught a song about being good sandlappers. “Yes! We are good sandlappers!” {Have you heard it?}

And, very recently, South Carolina announced a third official state song, written by a boy from my hometown.
