When Yuma gets into the triple-digit summer temperatures,
me and bestie go to the water park
and float down a lazy river
and sip frozen mango booze.
Yep it's a tough life.
Naturally instead of taking pictures of *that*
I took a picture of a rusty metal art thing
adorning the wall of the indoor bar.

I never get over
how fantastic it is
to sit outside in the warmth
eating brunch
and drinking mimosas
with a friend
while the rest of the country
is still getting snow.

I intentionally left a jar
of cheap clear plastic
thumb tacks
in a tin can outside
under the desert sun
and occasional rain
for about 6 months
and created rusty thumb-tacks
and I love them
