Hopefully by now or soon before your hunt you will have scouted your hunt area. Scouting is the best thing you can do to prepare for your hunt.

Next is gear. Regardless of planned method of hunt basic items include; treble hooks, rods and reels, harpoons, ropes buoys, snares, bait pegs and last but not least a bang stick. To be successful you need to be flexible and adapt to changing conditions during the hunt.

Got your tags! Now it’s time to get out and scout your area. Not only to locate gators, but more importantly to learn the area, locating hazards and determine hunting method.
There are three basic hunting methods: baiting, stalk and hook and “running and gunning”.

We took Allen out to help him fill his tags. First gator was 8’4”. We quickly took it to a processor to get it cooled down. After having lunch and cooling down our selves, we headed back out to fill the second tag. Allen spotted the second gator while we were trying to decide which lake to hunt. Allen filled the second tag with a 10’4.
