Happy Juneteenth!

Today is a day to honor the generations of Black Americans who endured slavery, fought for their freedom, and built lives despite centuries of violence and oppression.

It marks the day those enslaved in Texas finally learned of their freedom—two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

To our Black Community: We hope today is a day of celebration, full of friends, family, joy, and love.

To everyone else, it's a great day to learn more about the day's history, read books by Black authors, support Black-owned businesses, and teach your kids this history.

Juneteenth isn't just Black history—it's American history.

Today in 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court issued the landmark decision that struck down laws prohibiting in*******al marriage. This was only 59 years ago.

To celebrate this historic victory, honor those who fought for it, and recognize all the loving in*******al relationships that existed before this ruling, we observe today as Loving Day.

History isn’t as far behind us as it may seem. Books like this are great for ensuring our kids’ generation understands and appreciates these are rights that had to be fought for not that long ago.

🌈 How’s your Pride Month going?

Queer-authored books and stories with LGBTQIA+ representation are part of our shelves all year—not just for special display in June.

S*xuality and gender identity intersect with so many other lived experiences and identities. Which is why outside of June, you won’t find a separate LGBTQIA+ section—you will find them in every section.

Which q***r authors, books, and characters have made an impact on you?
