Until We Meet Again, Hoi An 🌿

Some guests come to a café for a coffee.
Some come looking for a book.
And some leave behind a story.

Today, we said goodbye to the Ballard family — Brittany, Saxon, and their beautiful girls — as they continued their journey beyond Hoi An.

What made their visit to Avocado Bookstore & Cafe special was not simply that they came as a family, but the way they were together.

They laughed together.
They listened to one another.
They noticed the little things.
They made space for stories, for curiosity, for connection.

Brittany and Saxon are the people behind Three Things, a family-led nonprofit built around storytelling, music, reflection, and the simple but powerful idea that people need to feel seen, heard, and connected. Their work includes Unsent, Healing Futures, and 3rd Act Life Reviews — different ways of helping people tell their stories and make meaning from the lives they are living. (Three Things⁠)

Perhaps that is why their visit felt a little different.

They didn’t simply pass through Hoi An.

They met Hoi An.

They met our family.
They met our little garden.
They met our books, our coffee, our dogs, and our everyday life.

And somehow, in just a short visit, they left a little of themselves here too.

We believe that is what travel can be at its best — not collecting places, but collecting human connections.

So, Brittany, Saxon and the girls…

Thank you for stopping at our little corner of Hoi An.
Thank you for the laughter, the stories, and the beautiful energy you brought with you.

May your family keep listening, keep creating, keep telling stories, and keep leaving little traces of kindness wherever you go.

Có những cuộc hẹn chẳng cần một lý do đặc biệt…

Hai người bạn, đã đi qua đủ nhiều năm tháng để hiểu rằng hạnh phúc đôi khi chẳng phải là những điều lớn lao.

Chỉ là một buổi cuối tuần, ngồi cạnh nhau, gọi một tách cà phê, kể vài câu chuyện cũ, cười thật to… rồi để thời gian trôi chậm lại giữa một khu vườn xanh và những trang sách.

Họ không còn trẻ, nhưng cũng chẳng hề già.
Bởi khi người ta vẫn còn có thể cười với nhau thật tự nhiên, vẫn còn những người bạn để gặp gỡ, vẫn còn những nơi khiến mình muốn ngồi lại lâu hơn một chút — thì tuổi tác chỉ là một con số.

Ở Avocado, chúng tôi thích những khoảnh khắc như thế.
Không ồn ào. Không vội vã.
Chỉ có cà phê, sách, một khu vườn nhỏ… và những cuộc gặp làm một ngày bình thường trở nên đáng nhớ. 🌿☕📚

Two friends, who have lived through enough years to understand that happiness is not always found in grand things.

Sometimes, it is simply a weekend afternoon spent sitting together, sharing a coffee, telling old stories, laughing freely… and letting time slow down for a while, surrounded by a little garden and shelves full of stories.

They may no longer be young, but they are certainly not old.
Because as long as we can still laugh together, still have friends to meet, and still find places where we want to stay a little longer — age is just a number.

At Avocado, we love moments like these.
Nothing loud. Nothing hurried.

Some of the most meaningful friendships begin with a simple cup of coffee.

This lovely couple, visiting from France, have become familiar faces at Avocado Bookstore & Cafe whenever they have a quiet afternoon. Though they now call France home, their parents were born in Vietnam, making every visit here a special journey back to their roots.

Today, they have chosen Hoi An as the place to enjoy a slower pace of life, surrounded by books, coffee, and a peaceful garden.

We feel truly grateful to be a small part of their time in Vietnam and wish them many more beautiful memories in the country they will always have a connection to.

Our garden is always waiting whenever you’d like to slow down with a good book and a great cup of coffee. ❤️

Đôi khi, những tình bạn đẹp bắt đầu chỉ từ một tách cà phê.

Hai cô chú đến từ nước Pháp xa xôi đã trở thành những vị khách thân quen của Avocado Bookstore & Cafe mỗi khi có thời gian thư thả. Dù hiện đang sinh sống tại Pháp, ba mẹ của cô chú đều là người Việt, nên mỗi lần trở về Việt Nam đều mang một ý nghĩa rất đặc biệt – như trở về với cội nguồn.

Lần này, cô chú chọn Hội An là nơi nghỉ dưỡng, tận hưởng nhịp sống chậm giữa khu vườn xanh mát, những tách cà phê thơm và những cuốn sách hay.

Chúng tôi rất vui khi được đồng hành cùng cô chú trong một phần nhỏ của hành trình ấy và chúc cô chú sẽ có thêm thật nhiều kỷ niệm đẹp trên quê hương.

Khu vườn của Avocado sẽ luôn chờ đón cô chú trong những lần ghé thăm tiếp theo. 🌿☕📚
