🌺🎈From Vietnam Gift Shop is proud to present our exquisite “Vietnamese Lady” lacquer statue, handcrafted by talented artisans from Hạ Thái Traditional Lacquer Village – a place that has preserved the essence of Vietnamese lacquer art for centuries.

🏕👫The Hạ Thái lacquer craft is believed to have originated in the 17th century, beginning as a trade of lacquered household objects. Though not the birthplace of lacquer art in Vietnam, Hạ Thái became highly regarded for its skillful, creative, and dedicated craftsmen.

In the early 1930s, the first generation of Vietnamese artists from the Indochina College of Fine Arts transformed traditional lacquer work into fine art. They introduced materials such as eggshell, shell inlay, bamboo core, silver, and gold leaf, and perfected the unique polishing technique that gives lacquer pieces their signature depth and shine. This innovation marked the birth of the term “sơn mài” (Vietnamese lacquer art).

💝The “Vietnamese Lady” lacquer statue is a harmonious blend of tradition and artistry, portraying the gentle elegance and timeless beauty of Vietnamese women.
