A sitemap can help search engines find important URLs, but your key products and categories should still be reachable through meaningful, crawlable links.

During an SEO audit, check both sides:

✅ 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐩
- Is it accessible?
- Does it contain the preferred URLs?
- Is it aligned with the current catalog?
- Does it avoid unnecessary pages?

✅ 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠
- Can important products and categories actually be reached?
- Are any valuable pages effectively orphaned?
- Are old internal links still pointing to removed URLs?

And one more important distinction:
𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐔𝐑𝐋 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐩 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐝.

For stores using PrestaHero SEO Audit, the module can generate a dynamic XML sitemap and split larger product catalogs across sitemap pages. Submission to Google Search Console remains

Chrome DevTools can quickly show you which images deserve attention.

🔍 Open:
𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 → 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 → 𝐈𝐦𝐠

Then reload the page and check:
✅ Sort by Size to find the heaviest images.
✅ Compare source dimensions with displayed dimensions.
✅ Check whether suitable images use efficient formats such as WebP.
✅ Look for off-screen images that load immediately.

One important detail: don't judge every image by file size alone.

A large hero banner naturally needs more data than a small thumbnail. Look for images that are unnecessarily large for how they're actually displayed.

And don't automatically lazy-load critical above-the-fold images that need to appear immediately.

Super Speed can optimize supported images through compression, WebP conversion and Lazy Load when image delivery is part of the bottleneck.

🧩 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐬.

Modules execute code through hooks while PrestaShop builds a page.

If one module performs expensive calculations, slow database queries, or waits for an external service, that work can delay the 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞.

🔍 One clue is inconsistency between page types.

If CMS pages are fast but product or category pages are significantly slower, investigate what additional modules and hooks execute on those pages.

Once you identify a suspicious module:
✅ Review its configuration
✅ Temporarily disable it and retest
✅ Remove unnecessary processing
✅ Check its queries/code when necessary

Finding the bottleneck and fixing it are two different jobs.

Super Speed's System Analytics can record module-hook ex*****on time and help narrow the investigation toward slow hooks, SQL queries or other performance areas. It does not automatically rewrite inefficient code inside another module. The product knowledge also verifies hook-performance recording as part of System Analytics.

🔍 𝐀 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞'𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐱.

These two SEO questions are related—but they are not the same:

𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲:
Can a search-engine crawler discover and access the URL?

𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲:
Can that page be considered for inclusion in the search index?

So when a PrestaShop page does not appear in search, diagnose the right layer.
✅ If Google cannot access the page: check links, robots.txt, redirects, errors or other access problems.
✅ If Google can access it but indexing is still wrong: check robots meta directives, canonical URLs, duplicate versions and whether the page actually has independent search value.

And remember: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐱 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐔𝐑𝐋 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞.

Search pages, technical URLs, duplicate variations or thin pages may have little reason to appear in search results.
Intentional indexing is more useful than maximum indexing.

This is an easy performance mistake to make.

Turning on a cache option isn't enough. You need to verify that eligible pages are actually producing 𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐬.

🔍 Depending on your caching solution, check:
✅ Are cached URLs or cache files actually being generated?
✅ Does the tool report cache HIT/MISS information?
✅ Are repeated requests faster than the first uncached request?
✅ Is there a response header, log or debugger that confirms a cache hit?

If repeated requests remain slow, don't assume “cache is already handled.” Investigate whether the cache is actually serving those requests.

For Super Speed users, its full-page cache can serve previously generated HTML for eligible requests, and valid cache hits include an X-SS response header.

⚠️ 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩 = 𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠? 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲.

A high server response time tells you that the delay happens 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 — but it doesn't tell you what's causing that delay.

Hosting could be responsible.

But PrestaShop itself could also be spending too much time generating the page because of modules, hooks, database queries or other page-specific processing.

🔍 A useful test:
1. Check TTFB in Chrome DevTools → Network → Timing.
2. Test your homepage.
3. Test a product page.
4. Test a category page.
5. Compare them with a simple CMS page.

If 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰, investigate the server/hosting environment.

If simple pages are fast but product or category pages are slow, investigate the work happening on those specific pages before upgrading your hosting.

A useful PrestaShop SEO audit should fix fundamental problems before smaller optimizations.
A practical order is:
1️⃣ 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 — Can search engines discover and access important pages?
2️⃣ 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 — Are the right pages allowed and suitable for indexing?
3️⃣ 𝐔𝐑𝐋𝐬 & 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 — Are canonicals, sitemaps, robots.txt and URL versions consistent?
4️⃣ 𝐎𝐧-𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐒𝐄𝐎 — Do important pages clearly explain what they offer?
5️⃣ 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 — Are titles and descriptions accurate and useful?
6️⃣ 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 — Can important pages be reached through meaningful links?
7️⃣ 𝟒𝟎𝟒𝐬 & 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 — Are broken and outdated URLs handled correctly?
8️⃣ 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 — Does the markup accurately describe the page?

The order matters.

Improving a product description has limited value if Google cannot crawl the page—or if the page tells search engines that another URL is the canonical version.

Before changing cache settings, upgrading hosting, or installing another optimization tool, identify 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬.

A simple way to narrow it down:

🖥️ 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐓𝐌𝐋 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬?

JavaScript and third-party scripts deserve closer attention.

A store can have problems in more than one area. The goal isn't to guess one cause — it's to build a list of 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐬.
