A beautiful Saturday to at Earth's Refillery Coop & Cafe . Stocked up on baking soda, Nellie's Clean dishwasher power, lentils, sesame seeds, brown rice pasta, and quinoa.

With a ton of liquid refill options too (oils, shampoos, soaps, etc.) you’ll be surprised what you can refill.

They have loads of containers so don’t worry about making an impromptu stop by. They have you covered!

Life is hectic and busy over here.
Finding time to do anything besides the necessities like laundry, meals, kids’ activities, feels like an impossible mission.

Fitting in one hour of at gymnastics (SE Gymnastique & Ninja Centre ) is the stage of life right now.

What about you?
What’s filling your space this summer?

Thank you Hailey for another order!

Did you know?

📍 .zerowaste is a pick up location? Save on shipping and refill while you’re there!

♻️ Besides the printed product packaging, all other product packaging is reused gift bags and tissue paper. It kills me that society has suddenly made it normal to put all gifts into gift bags with a bunch of tissue paper stuffed inside. There’s no need to add more garbage into the world.

Reel description: Prep an order with me. Video clips of strawberries on grey background flannel being sewn on a serger, then a stack of the sewn rectangular towel being folded in into small 1/6 rectangles and packed into a band style wrapper. 2 packages of towels are wrapped in yellow wrinkly tissue paper and put into a white and purple striped gift bag. A rubber stamp is used to stamp the Rewind Reusables logo onto a square sheet of paper and attached to the bag.

Our household had moved away from paper towels for many years. I wanted to share the swap with people but never had time. I kept thinking “someone else will sew towels to sell”.

Years passed and eventually on in 2021, I decided to take the leap. I had just given birth the previous month and decided, “It’s now or never!”

I got all my fabrics from , designed my logo and packaging in Microsoft Publisher, and set out to cold-call local businesses.

I am forever grateful to Meghann and Karine .zerowaste for their support. They were the first business to take a chance on me. They helped me with pricing my products more appropriately and were my first wholesale orders. 5 years later and they are still amazing supporters. Show them some love!!

I introduced various new products as I tried to figure out ways to use up scraps. From make up removing wipes to dish cloths, I’ve tried a fair share of eco friendly swap products.

I knew I wanted to build awareness an community so I tried to find ways to do both. It included sharing tips and tricks to live a lower waste lifestyle and raising funds to donate to causes I believed in. It was an honour to gift some cat themed towels to .irwin

I realized some of the items I wanted to sew were not possible on my home sewing machine. Sarah from had the great idea of doing a boost or fundraiser. I was blown away by the support and was successful in raising funds to buy an industrial

The 18 months of a new business and maternity leave allowed me to cram in a ton of markets. I’m so grateful for all the customers who made purchases and took the time to chat with me. Connecting with like-minded people is probably the most rewarding.

With life and work being so busy, I’ve scaled back on markets. I’m doing my best to keep some online presence and also sewing when I can.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. These past 5 years have sure been a ride.

Happy Earth day.

has been around for a looong time.

If you haven’t been, this is your sign to go.

Amazing drinks on tap, food you can order including , you can bring in your own food (a table behind us had an entire 6’ table potluck spread!), and not a single disposable cup or plate in sight!!!

I brought a cup and plate and was so happy that they weren’t even needed.

Kudos to the management team for creating a space with such welcoming vibes AND keeping waste low. 💚💚💚

Stopped by to do a restock and refill some hand soap. We got the soap as a gift and the kids burned through it so quickly that I tried to slow them down by adding the rubber band. We do the same for our shampoo and conditioner bottles.

Do you do this too in your home?

Hosting a party soon? Here are some tips to having a lower waste party:

🎈Rethink decorations: are they needed? What can be reused? Can you decorate with items you already have?
🍿Try serving finger foods like sandwiches, veggies etc. that do not require utensils.
🍽️ Make yourself a reusable party kit with washable plates, bowls, cups, utensils etc. sometimes we also just pull from our regular rotation of dishes and utensils to use for an event.
🧁Serving cupcakes eliminates the need for additional forks and plates. Also saves time for cutting/serving!
🎁 It’s ok to put gift parameters on invitations. Often we will indicate no gifts required, preloved gifts, preloved books etc.
🧸 Party favours often are just small plastic trinkets from the dollar store that aren’t played with end up in the trash. There is no rule that you have to give out party favours. If you’d like to, consider less impactful things like colouring books, preloved children’s books from your own collection or thrift stores, etc. This party, we stole our friend’s idea and washed up a ton of stuffies we had an each kid got to adopt a stuffie. Every kid was happy and it helped us clear out over 20 stuffies!!

Remember, all the little steps matter and it’s not about perfection!

We hosted dinner tonight and one our guests asked where the cups were. We had a bunch of random glasses and mugs set out inside the jug of punch.

“Oh you’re using real cups?”

We are at home. We have all the dishes we need and a dishwasher! Why wouldn’t we use our regular cups?!

Let’s normalize NOT using disposable dishes. Let’s not trade a few minutes of convenience for a big bag of garbage from a single event.

Recently discovered . They are located just east of Edmonton. I’m excited to try out some of the rye and wheat flour in my next . I got the wheat flour in a reusable tub that is offered with a deposit. I have every intention on being a repeat customer!

Image description: photo of a large plastic see through tub of whole wheat flour, a paper bag of ground rye flour and a smaller paper bag with a see through window in the front of organic rolled oats. Both bags are labelled with a green and white logo sticker that says Strathcona Stoneground Organics.

I also grabbed a bag of rolled oats to try out.
