Arts and Crafts Gallery proposes in Venice - famous mostly for the glass production- a selection of the best venice and hinterland pottery of the XX century (with some exception). Probably nobody knows that Venice and its hinterland was for centuries one of the european capital of ceramic production. It is on this side that the gallery wants to draw attention, aiming to disclose the Venetian ceramics produced in the 20's by Giacomo Dolcetti in his lab where they were active artists like Giancarlo Polidori, Bortolo Sacchi and Guido Cadorin. In the 50's the ceramic scene was leaded by San Polo Ceramics with figures like Otello Rosa and Giuseppe Santomaso. Between the 60's and 70's Venetian hinterland came to the exhibitions of the Biennale and Bevilacqua La Masa with new ideas in terms of alternative design, mostly in the name of Alessio Tasca who brought since 1968, with his extruded pottery, a new way to produce artistic ceramic with a technology that previously was used just to produce bricks and tiles.
