I should tell a little about myself as Raggedy Cyndi aka Cyndi Lee. The name Raggedy Cyndi is because I started with making rag quilts and also because my boys keep me a little on the raggedy side 😁.
I grew up in a family that made quilts -- mostly what I call "utility quilts" meaning block quilts that are made for comfort, warmth, picnics, camping, etc. Quilts that you are comfortable using, not the beautiful artsy masterpieces you see at quilt shows. There is nothing wrong with either, I'm just stating the difference.
I unfortunately didn't pay any attention to the process, and I didn't learn from them because I was set on being a successful career woman that lived in a fancy penthouse. Years later, I was at home with babies and I decided to teach myself to quilt. It started with a rag quilt for my dog. My quilts have many flaws, and I still learn with each one. But hey! If we ain't learnin' we ain't livin' are we?? I've taken many, long breaks from sewing because of life happening and being a mom.
I have sold quilts, but I have mostly made quilts for baby shower gifts and made quilts that were practice for me that are for my personal family and friends. I have made several quilts that I have donated to NICU for families that unfortunately have to bury their baby but don't want to use the generic hospital quilt.
As we settle in our new home, I hope that I can make more and more quilts and crafts. I welcome you to tag along and see what I make. For those of you who are crafty, craft along with me!
