Surprise Catch at Midmar Dam “Small Mouth Bass”

A quick morning session before work, been a while since we visited this dam.
Starting the morning off with the McArthy Slinky paddle tail in colour Babwe due to the overcast conditions.
Working the banks bush bashing in search of some fish, was a slow start to the morning and Lionel changed over to an eagle claw nedrig rigged with the Damiki leeches tail.
Getting a couple smalls before he moved on to several other spots testing the dam's waters with a couple of casts at each.
Fishing weightless got the most fish for the morning, the McArthy Tiddler Fluke fished with a 2/0 Land-it circle hook, and WHAT A SURPRISE, he landed a Small Mouth Bass after ages at this dam.

He pushed on to get several more, landing 8 for the 1-hour session.
Also landing a decent size bass between the smalls and a surprise small mouth bass.

Fun Fishing for Bass and Tilapia at Albert Falls Dam - Pietermaritzburg
Lionel decided to head inland for a change for a morning of Tilapia fishing.
He had been creating a compost area at home where he can collect earth worms as this is a great bait to use when targeting these fish.
Starting the session off by talking us through his setup and rig that he uses to target these fish.

Leaving behind the smaller hooks he started off missing the smaller tilapia until the bigger ones moved into the area, after a couple catches and bait out, he switched over to the famous McArthy river prawn jerk minnow and it was game on from the word cast 😉
The small bass were gale and although on the small side, it was absolute fun bringing out the kid in one lol.
