The three c's of b**r and cheese pairing is

1. Compliment (similar flavours and characteristics)

2. Contrast (balancing each other out)

3. Cleanse (cleansing the palette for the next bite)

Wheat ales have plenty of effervescence, which slices through this creamy and tangy cheese like a knife. They also have bright notes of citrus that co-mingle with goat cheese’s lemony tang, which together taste like lemon meringue pie.

A pilsner works best with fresh goat cheese with a creamy texture. Let the creamy taste of the cheese settle in your mouth and take a sip of pilsner as an accent. If flavored cheeses are more your speed, a goat cheese with a lemon edge also works well with pilsners with complimentary notes.

W**e and Goat's Cheese Pairing. Like me, if you prefer a red w**e, do not be disappointed...

Cabernet franc is a red w**e which pairs just nicely with Goat's Cheese.

Choose a lighter w**e with a medium body, high to medium acidity with herbaceous flavours which will pair well with the salty Goat's Cheese with its grassy fresh flavour and zing of balanced acidity.

And I am all for the adventure and therefore love the idea of having to find a good Cab franc as it is not a w**e widely produced in South Africa as of yet.

If you do find a good Malbec ... a perfect alternative.
