* Avoid distractions such as talking/texting on your phone
* Pay attention to anyone following/observing you after making large or expensive purchases
* Avoid really busy stores or crowded areas
* Keep handbags, cellphones and other valuables safe and out of reach. Do not leave handbags/phones on counters or in your trolley.

Cellphone snatchers and muggers can take advantage of busy events like these so take all precautions to avoid falling victim to crime.

SAFER CITY APP LAUNCH – BEDFORDVIEW CPF

Dear Residents of Bedfordview ,

The Bedfordview CPF is excited to announce the launch of our new partnership with SaferCity , a GPS Panic APP for Bedfordview residents and many other areas across the country.
We all know that crime is not limited to when one is at home or work. In fact, crime stats in South Africa show that we are most at risk while travelling, jogging, attending meetings, dropping the children at school, driving to work or home, or while visiting local stores and establishments.

SaferCity is contributing a portion of the monthly app subscriptions to the Bedfordview CPF to assist with funding the BCPF activities. In order to ensure that your subscription makes a difference, please use the code BEDCPF when registering on the SaferCity app. Your contribution will be used to fund the following:

- Additional cameras in the neighbourhood monitored by the SaferCity Control Room.

- Tamper and vibration sensors with triggers for all electrical sub-stations, electrical boxes and water supply key points. These sensors will enable a response from SaferCity Control room and the Bedfordview CPF SaferCity Responders Network.

- CPF Patrol operating expenditure in order to deploy additional technology and monitoring facilities to ensure Bedfordview is truly a SaferCity.

The monthly SaferCity subscription is only R35/month per user and R120 per family per month and is available on both Apple and Android smart phones.

SaferCity will donate R4,35 ex VAT to the BCPF per user per month.ok With 10 000 Bedfordview residents using the app (of the 28 000 residents in Bedfordview) a much-needed R43,500 per month in funding would be donated to the BCPF, which will be used to add to and further improve our suburb’s security initiatives.

BCPF escalates complaints against the police on behalf of the Bedfordview community and against criminal elements in an area on behalf of policing partners.

BCPF builds communication and problem-solving channels between all policing partners and the community.

BCPF regularly updates safety plans using information from SAPS-reported statistics, as well as community needs and complaints regarding crime hot spots and suspicious activities.

BCPF participates in SAPS anti-crime operations, which are determined by the community’s complaints and crime intelligence.

THIS IS THE DARKEST HOUR FOR PIT BULLS (and even other Bull breeds) IN SOUTH AFRICA. It is up to YOU, the owners, to KEEP THEM SAFE. Now more than ever!! It is up to you to put up a fight for your dog(s) and to move mountains to keep them safe. The evil lurking out there, is motivated purely by their lust for violence and brutality. They live among us. They finally have their opportunity to live their desires and to get away with killing and destroying. It has very little to do with the breed, but everything to do with the hearts and minds of these individuals.

HANDS OFF OF OUR PIT BULLS.

If you truly have no options to keep your dog safe, please save them from being tortured. Contact your local SPCA or Animal Welfare and ask them to please assist you in humanely and with you present put your dog to rest. Yes, your heart will break. But not near as much as should you witness your dog being poisoned, dragged, beaten, stabbed and set on fire. Sometimes protecting your dog, means letting them go peacefully and in dignity.

Our mortuary freezer is no longer working due to loadshedding. To add to an extremely difficult situation, the company that assists us to remove carcasses won't do so until this is repaired. We are sure that as a community you can understand how terrible this situation is.

If there is a company or member of the community who can assist us with this repair, we would be so grateful.
