It’s time to plant one. There’s something about a Cape May in full flower that takes me straight back to older gardens.

It’s a tough, hardy shrub that doesn’t ask for much, but when spring arrives it covers itself in masses of tiny white flowers. Dainty, but at the same time quite spectacular.

Give it sun to half sun and let it do its thing. It’s one of those plants that feels wonderfully old fashioned, but still fits perfectly into a modern garden.

It’s that time of the year when the Blue Petrea in our climber department really steals the show.

Also known as the Sandpaper Vine because of its coarse leaf texture, Petrea is a great climber for scrambling up a wall or trellis. It can also be clipped and shaped, so if you prefer, you can grow it as a large shrub.

Give it a sunny to mostly sunny spot and let it do its thing. Those blue flowers really are something special this time of year 🌸

This is so cool to see this resurface again after so many years. It’s like meeting a long lost friend! One of my first favourites, Perennial Candytuft, Iberis, has come into stock again at Eckards.

Those long lasting flowers make it such a special little perennial. Give it a mostly sunny spot along a border where you need something a little different and it will reward you with masses of pure white, little umbrella shaped flowers.

I love the contrast between those crisp white flowers and the dark green leaves. Simple, a little old fashioned and absolutely beautiful. Some plants just never go out of style! 🌸

Bright Bougainvillea colours that pop! Talk about exciting stuff!
It’s a gorgeous start to the day here at Eckards and, right on cue, our fresh delivery of large flowering Bougainvilleas are glowing.

All the colours, all the sizes… simply WOW!

Boug’s really are the ultimate waterwise warriors. Give them a hot, sunny spot, let them dry out between watering and they’ll reward you with incredible tropical colour year after year. They can handle the wet spells while growing and then really put on a show when things dry out.

Spring is the perfect time to plant them, giving them the chance to establish and get ready for a spectacular summer.

And honestly, we’re here for it!
