The indigenous succulent Fairy Crassula earns its name in winter when dainty white flowers cover the plants like a sparkly carpet.

We’ve planted it extensively throughout our display gardens where it has proved itself as a tough, waterwise perennial ground cover for shady spots. Looking good all year round, it’s one of those reliable garden plants that quietly gets on with the job while putting on a beautiful winter show.

Winter Petunias are at their best right now. Mass planted, they create a spectacular display of colour in the garden and on sunny patios.

With no rain falling on their foliage and cooler conditions keeping them on the drier side, winter is exactly what they love. Give them as much sun as possible and they will keep flowering right through to the end of spring and into early summer when our rainy season starts again 🌸

A must have for plant lovers, Butterfly Scabiosa flower almost all year, helping bees through winter and butterflies through summer. Their dainty flowers with their heads bopping in the wind have certainly caught our eye this week in our perennial department.

Grow them in as much sun as you can and they will attract pollinators for years to come in a perennial border 🌸

Did you know that deadheading your poppies gives you even more flowers? We walk past our patch every day and never let a spent flower stay for long.

The best part is that picking poppies for the house has exactly the same effect, encouraging even more flowers and giving you armfuls to enjoy indoors.
Our favourite tip for longer lasting poppies in a vase is to dip the freshly cut stem tips into boiling water for a few seconds. It seals the stems and helps keep your flowers looking fresh for longer 🌸

The playful Ginseng Fig bonsai in our entrance display are full of character and surprisingly easy to grow. They thrive on a patio or in a bright indoor spot and will give years of enjoyment with very little maintenance.

Keep them well watered through summer, but ease back in winter as they do not like to stay too wet. Feeding is simple with Pokon Bonsai Food. Apply every second week during winter and once a week through summer by adding it to your watering can 🌸
