❓ Frequently Asked Question

Where and when do carp spawn?

🌱 Carp spawn in the spring and early summer, usually in weedy, grassy, shallow areas of dams and rivers. They can spawn in water as shallow as 80 cm – 1.5 m.

🌧️ They prefer to spawn just before the big summer rains, as the water levels rise.

📅 In South Africa, carp generally spawn between September and October, depending on the climate.

🐟 Spawning fish can often be seen jumping out of the water or wallowing in the shallows – a great sign for the health of our fish stocks!

🎣 Fishing tip: During this time, carp are not difficult to catch if you know which fish to target. Sharper flavors can draw attention, but don’t be afraid to experiment with bait colors and types to find what works best. 😉

Fishing is a sport loved by so many. 🎣
Some head out to escape the rush of city life… others go simply to enjoy a calm, carefree day on the water.

At Dee’s, we are PASSIONATE about teaching, guiding, and growing the next generation of anglers. When we opened our doors in 2017 and launched our brand, we had BIG dreams—dreams of helping youngsters reach their goals, learn proper techniques, and of course… catch beautiful fish! 💪🐟

But fishing isn’t just about the catch.
It’s also about FISH CARE.
Knowing what to keep and what to release is essential. Protecting our fish stocks today means that our kids—and their kids—can enjoy the magic of fishing one day too.

That’s why Dee’s proudly supports CATCH AND RELEASE.

We want every angler to still enjoy our waters when we’re 80 years old! 😉

Fishing is not just about catching fish.

It’s about clearing your head and stepping away from the noise of everyday life. When you sit by the water, listening to the quiet and watching the line, your mind finally slows down. The stress, the worries, and the constant rush fade away for a while.

Fishing teaches patience.
It reminds you to breathe, to focus, and to appreciate the small moments — the sound of the water, the calm of nature, and the simple excitement of a bite on the line.

Sometimes the best part of fishing isn’t even the fish you catch, but the peace you find while waiting.

Bait presentations are SO SO important when it comes to catching good quality fish. We always test out bait presentation before throwing in to see what the buoyancy is.

You can mix different colours, textures and flavors and find the presentation which works for YOU!
