The Return of the Arab Priest.
Every five years, Irma Stern’s ‘Arab Priest’ travels back to South Africa from the in Qatar. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to engage with questions of nationhood, belonging, memory and the politics of cultural return. The exhibition opening at was delayed due to the conflict in the Middle East, but the painting is here now, and open to the public until September, when it will be moved to in Cape Town.
We were delighted to assist with a design to display this wonderful painting. The painting appears to float in space, as the glass easel allows visitors to appreciate all aspects of the painting and its frame (an artwork in itself) It is the result of a collaboration with and and beautifully illuminated by
