Our Little Charity Thrift shop, based in Hart Nursery in Ottery, is looking so cute and beautifully stocked and very welcoming.

We respect and appreciate your donated goods with pride and dignity.

A big thank you to each one who has donated and supported our shop.
We pride ourselves in taking great care and respect for each donation donated to us.
Every time we receive donated items, they are carefully sorted, washed and priced according to value.

Bedding is sorted and washed and packaged for hygiene purposes and your convenience.
All glass, cutlery and crockery is pre-washed and sterilized in our dishwasher.
Dogs bedding and towels are all pre-washed too.

We have lots of interesting goodies in stock at the moment.

Jewellery, crockery, glassware, bedding, brass, bric-a-brac, records, CD's paintings, and the list goes on. A little something for everyone.

If you wish to donate to our little shop, you are most welcome to drop it off at our shop, or we will gladly arrange to have it collected.

A small act of kindness can go a long way.

Your donations and purchases go to a desperate cause to keep our shelter open and the running cost of helping our animals in our care.
When you donate and shop with us, you’re not only assisting our organization. You’re also helping our shelter keep their doors open. You are also assisting in the rehoming of our cats and dogs, contributing towards rural outreach and sterilisations, and helping reduce the demand for puppy mills and other industrial-scale breeding operations that put profit before animal welfare.
Donating is a great way to help raise funds for our animals. Keep us in mind when cleaning out cupboards, downsizing, revamping, moving house or simply just throwing out unwanted goods. Your donations are really appreciated.

- Broken/damaged electronics and computer equipment (we do accept non-working computer towers)
Please understand that we incur costs for the disposal of items that we cannot sell

WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP 🕊
Animal Welfare Society of SA
As this year slowly creeps to an end and so people take their leave, abandon their pets to enjoy their holidays. The festive period is a rather sad time of the year for all injured and strays brought into our shelter and hospital for care and the hope of finding a new and forever home, not to mention in dire need of medical help.
Our charity shop based at Hart Nursery in Ottery really needs your help. The money collected from donations will have a positive impact on the organisation’s ability to respond to these heightened needs. During this time, Animal Welfare Society of SA also take on the responsibility to help communities through healthcare, vaccinations and sterilisations too.
We are in desperate need of donations for our shop.
All sales of your donations goes directly to the added medical costs and food costs that we incur over the festive time.
Your donations are really appreciated. We welcome all donations of saleable household goods including furniture, books, linen, bric-a-brac, antiques and kids items.

Animal Welfare Society of SA
We all have a soft spot for our furry friends but giving them well-balanced care is expensive. Animal–welfare organisations try their best to make care accessible despite being the lowest-funded NPOs.

Donations help us raise funds for the prevention of suffering animals and give them a second chance at life, which is why shelters like the Animal Welfare Society of SA have launched incentives to generate more funds.

Show support
The Animal Welfare Society of SA rely heavily on donations from the public to run their programs. Most animal charities have charity shops to help them raise the needed funds, where you can show support by donating your old (but still usable) goods for resale.

Help in times of need
Economic downturns or health crises, like the Covid-19 pandemic, can put an even bigger strain on our Animal Welfare Society ability to respond to animal abandonment, neglect and suffering. The money collected from donations will have a positive impact on the organisation’s ability to respond to these heightened needs. During this time, Animal Welfare Society of SA often take on the responsibility to help communities through healthcare, vaccinations and sterilisations.
Educating pet owners and our outreach programs.
Caring for your furry friend takes more than just feeding and playing with them. Donations support educational programs that teach responsible pet ownership, including information about proper care, training and the importance of neutering your four-legged friends. If more people know how to properly take care of their pets, the less animals suffer.

Encourage social responsibility
In South Africa, only a small percentage of the population and large corporates invest in animal welfare. Businesses that invest in animal welfare send a powerful message to animal lovers. Not only can it inspire other corporations to contribute to animal welfare, but it will encourage more animal lovers to support their businesses more.

Just the tip of the iceberg, why the Animal shelters are so full and why we really depend on and appreciate your donations. Every penny made goes to help our animals in need.

Suggestion - Landlords can simply ask for a pet deposit, if they are concerned about any possible damage.
