Material study: Beamwood Oak Natural by Dutch artisans Leeuwenburgh Fineer.

We know from 21 years of experience of building specifications that elevating contemporary interiors with a sense of authenticity is as much a function of material excellence as design.

However, imbuing timber joinery with the right amount and type of natural character is fraught with challenges. Too much and it looks overtly rustic. Too little and it’s insipid.

That is why we’re unsurprised by the incredible reception Leeuwenburgh’s Beamwood and 3D veneer (board) collections have received from South African architects and interior designers thus far in 2026.

Beautiful, textured, and refined timber surfaces are possible without sacrificing dimensional stability and by leveraging Leeuwenburgh’s long-established I.P. in grain enhancement, colour matching, and waterfall finishing.

We expect to receive a new batch of samples soon, along with associated literature, and would be happy to share more information with designers planning truly aspirational interiors.

Case Study: Luxurious Hospitality

Hakwood floors have earned a reputation as exceptional finishes in residential settings, but they are equally at home in the world of luxury hospitality.

Boutique hotels, lodges, restaurants and wine estates place very different demands on a timber floor. It still needs to look exceptional, but it also needs to be robust, structurally stable and capable of performing over the long term, across different climates and in more heavily used spaces.

It’s precisely in these demanding environments that Hakwood floors outperform alternatives.

And specification doesn’t have to begin and end with the standard collections. Hakwood has always been open to bespoke development, whether that means an unusual colour or texture, different dimensions, or a completely custom pattern created for a specific project.

Crafted in the Netherlands and specified by leading architects and interior designers in remarkable hospitality settings around the world, Hakwood brings together the beauty and authenticity of European Oak with serious technical performance.

For our South African architects and designers working on luxury hospitality projects, we’re always happy to assist with specification, samples, bespoke development and technical advice.
