The Friends of Bracken is getting ready for our biggest event of the year! Join us on Saturday, 12 September 2026, at Bracken Nature Reserve for our annual Spring Day Festival. Gates open at 07:00 until 13:00.

Expect exciting activities for the whole family, including guided nature walks, rock painting and a 5 km fun run. There will be a selection of food vendors and craft stalls. A highlight of the day will be the firing of our historic cannon. This year, the honour of firing the cannon goes to Alderman Grant Twigg, alongside the winner of the fun run and the person with the best spring outfit! You even have a chance to win a prize during a lucky draw!

𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Fun With Art Capetown

Tomorrow we welcome back one of our most loved creative partners — Fun with Art Cape Town. Known for their Mobile Art Pop‑Up Workshops, they bring colour, imagination and connection to team building sessions, bachelorettes, baby showers, birthdays and private events across Cape Town. Their workshops are relaxed, joyful and designed to bring out the artist in you, no experience needed.

They’ll be based in the rock painting area tomorrow, ready to guide art lovers of all ages. And for those who want to keep creating at home, they’ll also have rock‑painting supplies for sale.

It’s going to be a vibrant, community‑driven morning. Gates open at 7am, and runners and walkers are welcome to register on the day. The Fun Run & Walk starts at 9, followed by a full programme of activities, creativity and local collaboration.
