Stanislav Angelov (Accordion, Bandoneón & Vibrandoneon)
Bulgarian born, South African Accordionist, Accordion Teacher, Composer, Producer, Arranger and band leader.
Stanislav grew up in Bulgaria where he studied formally Accordion. He received his first “baby size” accordion at the age of 5 years old and at age of 7 started accordion lessons.
He went to Music High School with Accordion as his primary instrument. After that he was accepted to further his music education at Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts, Plovdiv, Bulgaria - and again with Accordion as his primary instrument. After graduating in 1991, he got a full time post as an Accordion lecturer at one of the Bulgarian universities.
While he was in Bulgaria he performed at many concerts, festivals and Accordion competitions as a soloist, member of chamber groups or in an Accordion orchestra throughout Bulgaria, Poland and France.
He moved to Cape Town in 1992 where he performs, teaches, records and continues to make living as a full time musician, and for the last 15 years also imports and sells accordions and accordion accessories. Since 2022, after 2 months of training at the Siwa & Figli Accordion factory in Italy, he also repairs accordions.
Since 1999, after obtaining his Teachers Licentiate in Saxophone through UNISA and Trinity College of London, he also offers Saxophone and Clarinet lessons, alongside the Accordion.
Some of highlights of his over 33 years career in South Africa include:
Performances as a soloist with Cape Town Symphonieta, Cape Town Philharmonic, Johannesburg Festival Orchestra, Eastern Cape Philharmonic, performing the Bandoneon/Accordion Concerto of Astor Piazzolla and in some occasions his own arrangements for Accordion & Symphonic Orchestra
Leading a 9 piece Tango orchestra for the production of the Tango Operita “Maria de Buenos Aires” by Astor Piazzolla which was presented at all major Music Festivals in SA.
3 CDs released by his CT Tango Ensemble with one of them nominated for “Best Instrumental Album” on SA Music Awards
On his Record Label “Good Music World” he has released several other albums with different projects and different bands, like “Opera deLight”, Vivaldi 4 Seasons, Swing Café and more.
He also appeared during the first “46664 Nelson Mandela” concert at the old Green Point Stadium, performing with Brain May & Rodger Taylor from the Rock group Queen, as well as another song with Bob Geldof.
Stanislav compositions are often played on radio, used in TV programs and in films.
Accordion Shop – Cape Town
This is your ONE-STOP ACCORDION place for anything to do with Accordion. Here you can find new or 2nd hand accordions (piano or button), accordion accessories, Accordion lessons, Accordion live concerts, Accordion arrangements, Accordion recordings etc…
Stanislav Angelov (most probably the only full time professional accordionist in SA) started this venture out of demand for his own Accordion students around 2010. Gradually his clientele expanded throughout South Africa.
Firstly, he offered import of new Accordions from Germany and Italy, as well as 2nd hand accordions. The next, he added accessories like shoulder straps, bags, microphones etc. And since 2022 after two months of training in Italy at Siwa & Figli Accordion factory he also offers accordion repairs.
One of the reasons Stanislav started and enjoys running the Accordion Shop is that he would like every accordion player and enthusiast to have the best possible equipment to work with which would make his progress much more enjoyable as well as his/her audience would have a much better experience of the Accordion.

After several years of teaching and performing in and around Cape Town, this additional venture developed almost organically. Very often he’d have potential Accordion students, who would be very keen to start lessons but did not have their own instrument and did not know where to buy or rent one from. After managing on many occasions to outsource good 2nd hand accordions in 2011, he established a contact and partnership with a very well know German Accordion manufacture and that is Weltmeister factory in Klingenthal, Germany.
Since 2016 he added several brands from Italy
