A beautiful bowl is easy to choose. The right one is something else.

At Setamono, we look for Japanese tableware that works as beautifully as it looks.

The shape, texture, glaze and proportions all change how food is presented and experienced.

From everyday meals to long meals with friends, the right piece can make even a simple dish feel considered.

That's what we're looking for when we choose what comes to Setamono.

And there’s more on the way. 🍵 New tableware has landed and will be coming soon to the online store.

What makes a piece of tableware special to you — the shape, glaze, texture or something else?

Why Don't Japanese Teacups Have Handles?🍵

Meet the Yunomi, a traditional Japanese teacup designed without a handle.

The smaller form allows you to hold the cup in your hands and appreciate the warmth, aroma and flavour of the tea.

There's something wonderfully simple about the ritual:

Pour. Hold. Sip. Notice.

Sometimes Japanese tableware doesn't ask you to do more.

It asks you to pay more attention.

Have you ever used a Yunomi? Tell us what you love about it below.

A good knife changes the way you cook. 🔪

At Setamono, our Japanese knife collection from Seki Kanetsugu brings together four distinct ranges — each with its own character, construction and feel.

Miyabi Isshin — AUS8, Aichi steel, chosen for sharpness, durability and corrosion resistance, with a natural rosewood handle.

ZUIUN — Damascus steel, the highest quality cutlery steel SPG2.

SHIUN — VG-10 high-carbon stainless steel with a three-layer construction, designed for sharpness, edge retention and corrosion resistance.

Heptagon — VG-10 three-layer core material is a high-carbon stainless steel containing cobalt, resulting in a highly hard and sharp blade.

From everyday cooking to professional kitchens, each range offers something different.

Which one would you choose? 🔪
