Sorry All ! We’ve been so quiet for the last while as we are really busy behind the scenes. We got some cool info from Anesh Sew who was in Mozambique fishing with Rudolph Scheepers. Fish were really fussy and keyed in on a very specific lure size — the Clone Trident 90 was spot on.

The sea was flat and clean, so the smaller profile was exactly what they wanted. What made the difference was being able to play around with the retrieve — working it on top, or giving it a twitch and letting it sink when the fish weren’t committing.

They were also sitting a fair way out, and that’s where the 2oz Trident 90 really came into its own. Small profile, but enough weight to cast comfortably into the zone.

Tackle setup:
10ft Black Hole Cape Cod Striped Bass, ¾–4oz
Shimano Twin Power 6000. 20lb Shimano Kairiki braid

A great example of why lure size doesn’t necessarily have to be sacrificed when you need extra casting distance.
