From 15 September to 15 December, registered Neighbourhood Icons aged 60 and over can explore the Waterfront, collect stamps and unlock rewards — with more than 100 rewards to discover.

Here’s how it works:

1. Start with an instant reward
Collect your Neighbourhood Icon Rewards card and reveal your instant reward.

2. Explore and collect six stamps
Visit participating businesses, enjoy your Neighbourhood Icon benefits and present your receipt and reward card at the Visitor Information Desk to collect a stamp.

3. Complete your card and unlock a guaranteed reward
Collect all six stamps and receive a guaranteed reward from participating businesses and attractions.

4. Go into the grand prize draw
Complete your card and you’ll also qualify to enter the grand prize competition for the chance to win a curated prize package.

Here’s the latest from our neighbourhood:

Entries for The Circular Innovation Challenge 2026 close on the 20th September. The Challenge is presented by SOLVE@Waterfront and Vikāra Institute , supporting businesses developing innovative solutions that contribute to a more circular economy. Previous participants including Re.Bag.Re.Use, Leafline and The Litterboom Project have gone on to grow their businesses, build new partnerships and create positive impact through their work.

The Watershed Design Lab celebrated the graduation of its fourth cohort, marking another milestone for the retail readiness enterprise development programme run in partnership with the The Craft + Design Institute (CDI). Since its inception, the programme has supported 26 SMMEs, generated nearly R4 million in sales and sustained at least 35 jobs.

Our residential offering is expanding with The Bower, our first later-living community, which will bring a contemporary approach to independent living and ageing in place. The development will operate on a Life Rights model, giving residents lifetime occupation of their apartment while offering additional support and lifestyle services as their needs evolve.
We’ve also welcomed new stores and revamped favourites.

For Louisa Williams, fishing has become a way of life.

For 25 years, she’s been part of the Buffeljags community, learning the world of fish and finding her place in a fishing village she always dreamed of calling home.

From checking the community WhatsApp group and watching the weather, to measuring, cleaning and preparing the catch, Louisa is part of the work that happens long after the boats return.

And through it all, it’s her community, her work and her family that matter most.
