Two cello rosins from the same batch, yet they look different! What's going on here? π΅οΈββοΈ
These are two cello rosins, from the same run. One came out rather smooth looking, whereas the other one has some superficial hairline cracks. Is one of the two rosins spoiled?
NO! π
All of our rosins are made of natural ingredients, and are handmade. Some of the ingredients we use, especially in the cello rosin, are by nature susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, both while pouring them and afterwards; this can lead to small imperfections like the one in the picture. Yet, such imperfections are only cosmetic, and they have no impact whatsoever on the sound, usability and overall quality of the rosin.
While we do our best to maintain our production as consistent as possible, little imperfections are unavoidable.
We also avoid over-polishing our rosins -we could add ingredients that would make it easier to make them look good, but that would mean taking away from their sound quality and playability, and we're not going to sacrifice those for a purely aesthetic matter.
And we would find it a pity and a waste to throw away a perfectly functioning rosin because of a small aesthetic imperfection! Waste of resources is something we strongly strive against, and we try to give our little contribution to reducing it as much as possible.
So, if you see little, shallow surface cracks on your rosin, there is nothing to worry about! And those will make your rosin unique! ππ»πΆ
NOTE: if your rosin shows deeper cracks, is cracked throughout (unfortunately, courier transport can be rough at times), or any other issue, please do not hesitate to contact your retailer and/or us directly, and we will do our best to assist you!
