A beautiful South African indigenous perennial, Plectranthus ‘Mona Lavender’ brings long-lasting interest to shaded gardens with its glossy deep green foliage, rich purple leaf undersides, and elegant sprays of purple-lavender coloured flowers.

Ideal for creating a lush, woodland-inspired garden style, 'Mona Lavender' brings depth, texture & seasonal colour to spaces where direct sun is limited. It pairs effortlessly with ferns, clivias, impatiens & other shade-loving plants to create layered, inviting planting schemes.

Originally developed at Kirstenbosch, this hardy garden favourite is well suited to Western Cape conditions and performs equally well in beds, borders & containers.

Beyond its ornamental appeal, it helps support urban biodiversity by attracting nectar-feeding visitors such as the Southern Double-collared Sunbird, Orange-breasted Sunbird and Cape White-eye to Cape Town gardens, while also providing a valuable food source for bees & other pollinating insects.

🌿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲
Plant in well-drained soil improved with compost, in a position receiving morning sun or bright filtered light.
Water regularly while establishing and reduce watering once settled (be careful for overwatering).
Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and prolific flowering.
For a fuller shape, lightly trim after flowering.
Space plants about 60 – 80cm apart. Mature size is approximately 75cm high and 75cm wide.
