Pedals are the upgrade nobody gets excited about and everybody feels first.

Wheel first is the instinct. It is the wrong order. Braking is where the lap time actually hides, and that comes from what is under your right foot rather than what is in your hands.

This is a Boeing flight deck you can put in a spare room.

Next Level Racing built it in collaboration with The Boeing Company, and the details are the part that get people. The seat is covered in faux wool to match a commercial flight deck chair rather than a gaming chair. The harness is a four point in Boeing blue. The logo is embroidered into the seat back and laser etched into the side panels.

It is one cockpit that reconfigures for commercial, combat, general aviation and space, and it takes yokes, joysticks, throttles and rudders from every major brand.

It is standing on the floor in Centurion. Come and sit in it.

Most people build a sim rig in the wrong order. The wheel gets bought first because it is the part you can see in the photos, and the pedals get whatever budget survived.

Turn it around. Pedals, then the wheelbase, then the frame. Braking is where lap time actually hides, and a pedal set that measures how hard you press rather than how far the pedal moves is what lets your feet do something useful with that. The frame comes last for a simple reason: it is a shelf for parts you have not bought yet, and it is the easiest piece to upgrade later.

Everybody starts on the wheel on the left. Almost nobody stays there.

That first wheel clamps to a desk, costs a fraction of what the rest of the rig costs, and does the single most important job in sim racing, which is telling you whether you actually love this. Then one day you sit behind a direct drive base, where the wheel is bolted onto the motor itself with nothing softening the signal, and every kerb and every slide arrives in your hands the way the car actually meant it.
