QUICK ACCESS CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE

Copwatch Security urges all residential and business clients to ensure that response officers have a safe, quick and reliable way to access their properties during an alarm incident.

High palisade fencing, electric fencing and locked gates provide important protection—but they can also delay response officers when urgent access is required.

Suitable access options may include:

• A securely installed lockbox containing a gate key or remote
• A GSM module connected to the gate motor, allowing the client or control room to open the gate remotely
• Another pre-approved access arrangement recorded with the control room

Please ensure that keys, remotes, access codes and contact details are kept secure, tested regularly and updated whenever they change.

Quick access allows our response officers to investigate alarm activations more effectively and provide assistance when every second counts.

We would like to share a heartfelt message of appreciation received from a grateful parent:

“I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for one of your response officers, Mr Ishmael Ngobeni.

He was patrolling in The Reeds on the night of 06 September 2026 when he found my daughter wandering alone in the cold. He contacted me on ### ### ###X and helped ensure that she was brought to safety.

As a parent, having your child missing or unaccounted for, especially at such a late hour, is an extremely frightening and stressful experience.

Mr Ngobeni’s professionalism, compassion and willingness to help during a situation that could have been very distressing meant more to me and my family than I can adequately express. His actions are a true reflection of the values and standards that a response officer should uphold.

I felt it was important that his company and management know about the difference he made that night. Please extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to him. I hope his efforts will be recognised, as his actions gave a worried parent reassurance when it was needed most.

SECURITY ALERT | OUTDOOR BEAMS ARE BEING STOLEN

Outdoor security beams are increasingly being targeted by thieves. The theft can happen so quickly that the alarm may barely have time to trigger before the suspects jump back over the wall and flee with the beam.

These stolen units are often resold on the second-hand market.

Help protect your property and equipment:

• Test your outdoor beams regularly and ensure they are working correctly.
• Keep beams completely clear of foliage and other obstructions.
• Fit suitable anti-theft brackets to help prevent removal.
• Check mounting points for loose fittings or signs of tampering.
• Report suspicious activity immediately.

OPERATION SHANELA | WORKING TOGETHER AGAINST CRIME

Copwatch Security had the privilege of participating in Operation Shanela alongside SAPS Wierdabrug, SAPS Olievenhoutbosch, other SAPS stations, the Community Police Forum and fellow security companies.

During the operation, several people suspected of being undocumented, suspected drug dealers and other alleged offenders were detained or removed from the Wierdapark area by the relevant authorities. Numerous vehicles were stopped and searched, while properties suspected of being connected to criminal activity were thoroughly inspected.

Operation Shanela was considered a success in the ongoing effort to curb crime and protect our communities. It also strengthened the important working relationships between the South African Police Service, Community Police Forums and private security companies.

OPERATION SUCCESS

Copwatch is proud to have assisted SAPS and our fellow E2 security partners in a successful operation in Wierdapark today.

Through a coordinated response, 5 suspects were apprehended, approximately 120 kg of suspected stolen cable was recovered, and the vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the crime was seized, along with equipment believed to have been used in the theft.

👏 A huge thank you to Wierdabrug SAPS, Bidvest Airwing, MonitorNet, Noordvaal Security, Scorpion Security, Fidelity ADT and PRSS for the outstanding teamwork.
