We have reached the 10th and final proverb in our "Courage" series, and it confronts the one thing that drains our energy more than anything else: avoiding the hard stuff.
“THE COWARD DIES MANY TIMES; THE BRAVE TASTES DEATH ONCE.”
Think about how much energy we waste dreading things. The weeks spent stressing over a difficult phone call are often so much worse than the 5-minute call itself. Avoidance multiplies pain. It makes us suffer over and over again in our imaginations. But the moment you finally just do the thing, the anxiety vanishes. Commitment ends it. True bravery is recognizing that the fastest way out of suffering is straight through it.
