As advocates for the value, acceptance, and inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the management team of Edu – Play Early Learning Centre along with Sisu Centre have dedicated their lives to making the world a better place for their learners and trainees as well as others living with support needs. Educational Director, Carlyn Coetzee is the mother of two beautiful
children, Amelie was diagnosed with Autism at 2 years old. Together with co – founder, Lizé du Toit, also a mother to three lovely children, they were driven to establish Edu-Play Family Centre and Edu-play Early Learning Centre to provide neurodiverse children with a safe happy learning environment where their differences are appreciated and celebrated. In the journey with our Edu - Play families it became clear that there is a lack of suitable facilities and infrastructure directed towards transition and vocational training for neurodiverse adults to obtain employment and develop their creative outlets and self-expression. The Sisu Centre was launched in which trainees are equipped to transition into adulthood. The aim is to find each individual’s niche and passion and cover a wide range of abilities. We aim for them to continue to grow and progress, so that they can live an independent and fulfilling a life. Noodle Play Co was created towards the end of 2021 to not only provide sheltered employment for trainees but also to meet the needs of parents looking for suitable sensory and educational products for their children. Noodle Play Co will develop into a fulltime shop at the premises, allowing trainees to practice their skills in a safe environment. Ammie & Us was established as the brand name to showcase our learners and trainees creative side by selling their hand crafted products. Both Noodle Play Co as well as Ammie & Us will officially launch at the beginning of 2022.
