Another one of our featured artists: Jannie Jonck. We asked Jannie a few questions about his work, his motivation and if he would recommend Pottery to anyone and why.......

When I was young, I was called artistic, but growing up on a farm and being part of a farming community, did not offer me many opportunities to be involved in art. Then I met my lovely wife who supported and motivated me and I was privileged to be taught the art of pottery by an enthusiastic friend of almost 90 years old.

I started teaching children and offer them therapy through my pottery classes. Pottery is extremely stress relieving and helps with anxiety. Currently I have quite a few adults attending my classes too.

Yes, I would recommend pottery to anyone, you only need a small space and very few tools. You can make use of a community kiln when you begin. The pottery community is very friendly and welcoming and so many life lessons are taught during the process.

Needed some creative inspiration and got it right here in Durbanville! Visited the Rust and Vrede Art gallery & Clay museum and had brunch at 7550 Art shop. Amazing to find beautiful art in the heart of Durbanville! 🎨🖼🪅
