To all our loyal retailers, customers and the general public. Certain individuals have been placing notices on various whatsapp groups and other social media, warning that eggs are unsafe for human consumption, due to the recent avian influenza that has affected certain farms in the Western Cape region. Whilst this is a very sad event for the poultry industry as whole, we have no reason to allow the few uninformed individuals to create panic surrounding the eating of egg or chicken products. THERE ARE NO REPORTED CASES OF THE SPREAD OF THIS VIRUS FROM BIRDS TO HUMANS. Also, our Eastern Cape region farm community is free from Avian Influenza at this point in time. Sunrise Eggs remains committed to a very strict biosecurity policy that is currently on high alert. Sunrise Eggs is also independently audited for food safety at a very high level, being GFSI certified. Basically folks, our eggs are safe to eat when stored and cooked correctly. Unfortunately a few irresponsible individuals have posted some misleading information that is designed, willingly or unwillingly, to foster fear amongst consumers. Please see the attached post from the South African Poultry Association, which refutes such fears in writing. So, please disregard the fear mongers and continue enjoying our quality Sunrise Eggs without worry!
