Some work done on the path today.

Coming into 2026 - we are back at it again. Etching ever so closely to the completion of the walkway on Greenstone Dr. Something to consider as well, once the walkway is complete, who is going to maintain it? Once off cleanings of public spaces will unfortunately not solve the problem because when it comes to keeping something/anything clean and neat what is required is consistency. Once this project is done we will then move onto the next project and by the time we have moved onto the next project - grass, weeds and trash have returned, especially in the summer time with all the rain. We will not be able to put ALL of our time and effort into keeping these spaces clean as there are so many other public spaces that need our attention. The idea that I had is to email the near by complexes and ask if they don't mind maintaining this particular walkway that is connected to the walkway that is in front of their complex. I notice how clean and immaculate these walkways are that are in front of these complexes, as a result of constant care. The answer here is to involve more people. Again we have come to the conclusion that municipalities have become unreliable in maintaining these spaces and so community involvement may be our last resort. We still don't know what will happen with our municipalities but until then we need to try and find a solution as to how we are going to keep Edenvale and surrounding areas consistently clean.

Update on the pavement on Greenstone Dr just off Palliser Rd. Despite the rain we managed to make some progress on the pavement. We are going to clean the entire length of the pavement that runs across the green belt with the power pylons up until the first complex. This project will take some time to complete as work can only be done every second Tuesday (twice a month) but we shall persevere slowly but surely.

Better Edenvale is a volunteer-led, apolitical, registered non-profit organisation. It is run by dedicated directors who are all volunteers giving their time generously - for no remuneration - to serve the community.

Some updates on the pathway on Greenstone Drive.

Today we are tackling a new project. We are working on a sidewalk that is on Greenstone Dr just as you come off Palliser Rd in Edenvale. The amount of growth on this pavement indicates that's its been years since this pavement has been cleaned. The growth is quite thick so it will take time to clear the path completely. With the rains soon to be upon us, all of the dust will soon be washed away making the pavement even more spotless.

As I arrived on site, I noticed a pile of rubbish bags. They were not my rubbish bags, and I realized, as I was looking around, that someone or a group of people had already been there and had mostly cleaned the area up. This was a relief, as it was nice to know there are others out there who want to put in the effort to keep the Edenvale area clean. The area is now looking a lot better thanks to the people who were involved. Time to move on to the next project.

But before we do— is there anyone out there who would be willing to volunteer their time and energy to fix this hole?

Back at it again on the Corner of Stoneridge Drive and Hereford Rd. Focusing on the pavement near the embankment that seems to not have seen the light of day for quite some time. There is still work to be done before it is complete but we are getting there.
