Dust Vaal (formerly DVST From The Vaal)
In 2016, I drew, planned and opened a store.
But the file wasn’t just a layout, I called it “The Decades Plan.”
Because even then, I knew it was bigger than a store.
But the truth is I wasn’t building a store.
I was planting a seed.
Since day one, Dust From The Vaal was never meant to be just retail. It was meant to be a statement. Proof that something world-class can come from the Vaal. From the township. From us.
Every year since inception, I’ve been working on the bigger plan. Quietly refining, sketching, rendering, reimagining it.
Right now, it’s just the store, but the vision has always been bigger.
The goal is to build a creative hub, a home for thinkers, designers, entrepreneurs, and dreamers who don’t want to leave the hood to feel inspired.
Inside the hub:
A conference room for ideas to be born.
Workstations for creatives and remote workers who want an office in kasi.
A barbershop where culture lives.
A coffee shop where conversations turn into collaborations,
A bookstore for knowledge and perspective.
An event space for launches, talks, and community gatherings.
Across the road an eatery.
Connected by a suspended shipping container bridge.
A bridge that does more than carry people.
It connects opportunity.
It connects ambition.
It connects the Vaal to its own future.
This isn’t just about architecture.
It’s about access.
It’s about ownership.
It’s about building the spaces we wished existed when we were starting out.
Dust From The Vaal isn’t just a brand.
It’s a decades plan.
And we’re just getting started.
