Yoh, what a year! Covid has been hard on us and as a small preserve company we had to take a break from cooking. Some reflections and a lot of thinking had us make some important decisions on how we will take it further. So a lot of changes are happening to upgrade our look and some exciting new recipes have been tested and made it on to the shelf. We will be posting our new look and product soon. We at Preservar believe in being sustainable and looking after the earth as much as possible. If not for us then the next generation. We feel it will be a beautiful addition to our range. Why you ask as we make scummy preserves, well those delicious sarmies and lunches need to be carried to work or school. Why not make then look extra beautiful while you are doing your bit to be kind to mother earth. I've been using them for a while in my own home and they are fantastic!

Benefits Of Beeswax Food Wraps

What are Beeswax Food Wraps Exactly?

Beeswax wraps are made of beeswax, and a type of fabric, usually cotton or h**p. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties, and because it is water tight, locks in moisture – but does not let it build up – while letting the food naturally breathe, something that plastic wraps, being airtight, will not do.

Beeswax wraps act like a natural barrier, a bit like a fruit’s skin protects its flesh. Most companies producing wraps also add other natural ingredients for more benefits: jojoba oil (antifungal as well) and tree resin (antibacterial and antiseptic) for instance.

Uses of Beeswax Food Wraps

You can use beeswax wraps to replace your plastic wraps and thus putting it around fruits, veggies, cheese, bread, etc. It is also great to seal containers with food, like bowls of salad in your fridge.

Just use your hands to mold the wrap around your food, their warmth will make the wrap grip tightly to the food or the container you are using.

Care and Maintenance

It is also easy to care for, just wash it with cold water so that the beeswax does not melt and a mild soap, and let air dry. Because it cannot be washed with hot water, the use of beeswax wraps for meat and fish is not recommended.

Why Use This instead of Plastic Wraps?

Beeswax wraps, on top of smelling like a walk between beehives, are biodegradable, compostable, and reusable. Can you say the same of plastic wraps?

Still think you can not make a difference? What does it help if it's only me? I can't change a thing. These are all statements that are so wrong. You are the change. Even if it's just one thing you change. That's where it starts, today you change your mindset about single use plastics, tomorrow we have a cleaner future for the next generation. We are the change!

How the world has changed, and my I say my mindsets to. We are moving into a different world and I do believe our lives will not be the same again. I see how the planet has healed itself in places like Venice where the waters are clear again. Japan where they can see the sky again just to name a few. Wild life returning to places that it's not been in a long time. It's in our hands to keep the planet safe and clean for the next generation. And with that Preservar is launching some very exciting and eco-friendly products. We are working on the photos and are very excited about this! Let's move forward and keep mother earth healthy.
